Default is it stealing if...?

you find something in the woods thats way behind someones property? went riding in the woods by my gf's house and found an engine. complete chevy small block. turned the flywheel turns over good and it's complete. wanna take it but my gf says it's probably someones. but who dumps soemthing like that in the middle of quad trails. whats your opinion should i take it or not?

ask the property owner.....i found a 1927 chevy pick up in the woods that still has the complete 4 cly. still turns by the fly wheel...gotta get over there sometime and see what there going to do with it..before they sell there house

it's not marked private property at all. thats y i'm wondering. the owner of the closest property has a ton of junk on the edge of his property this engine is wayy beyond that in the woods.

there is no such thing as unclaimed property anymore someone owns it..i think id find that person just in case..

Umm, it doesn't matter if its marked private property or not. I don't have any private property signs in my backyard, so I don't expect anybody to go out there and take my stuff.

do you live in oregon? have any horses? :tonka:

as for the issue at hand. if this is in oakland county, I can find out the property tax payer of record, as well as perform a recorded deed search on it to find the current owner of record...

just need a pretty good idea of where the property is.
