Its because they can't afford it or anything else for that matter after they waste 96% of their money hoping that they can win big on the lottery.

Actually I think it was even below that. Not much but why give them more credit than deserved?

Gov't assistance should be sandwich boards that say " I'm too damn lazy to work at McDonalds so thanks for the cheese!"

You're a real fuckstick, you know that? I don't suppose mommy and daddy ever made you pay for a thing in your life, so maybe you don't understand the concept of "hard times".

I happen to know a couple of people, who thanks to the wonderful economy, lost their full time, fully insured "cush" jobs. They took part time jobs, but two part time jobs doesn't equal a full time job, especially when you have to pay health insurance out of pocket for yourself, as well as your wife and 18month old baby. Rather than declare bankrupcy and become another one of Michigan's favorite statistics (foreclosure), they are taking government benefits. This includes the Bridge card that you guys want so much to have a part of, and which is helping them get back on their feet.

Or how about my personal experience? Mom and dad both working full time jobs, when dad gets a herniated disk in his lower spine. Dad's out of work for 6 months, and mom doesn't make enough money to cover our normal bills on her own, let alone the hospital bills. This happened in the mid 80's, so I realize things have gotten "better".

I DARE you to realize the humiliation and shame that come from being the breadwinner in your family and getting knocked down to not even being able to pick up your own child, let alone raise money for your survival. Once you've experienced waiting in line just to get some white label food, just so your family can eat that week, THEN you can be so bold as to make comments about people on gov't assistance being lazy. Until then, go fukc yourself, but have a nice day doing it.

Im sure there are the types that take advantage of the system as it is intended. I know it would suck to be reduced to goverment assitance. This is no diss to the people who use it because they actually need it. However they seem to be far and few between.

Im at a buddys shop the other day and he gets a phone call from this younger woman complaining her car is shaking when she goes down the road. He says go get your tires looked at and if its still doing it come see me. She then replies that welfare is paying to get it fixed so she wants the whole car checked. No big deal right. Mid 90's whatever probably has a few things wrong with it. Lets help single mom out. No, the bitch is on welfare rolling an 05 expedition. Gas guzzeling big ass suv. I dont care if she has 8 kids. Goverment funded, you get nothing more than a nice used minivan. And we wonder why our state is broke.

Oh, trust me. I realize there are plenty of people that do abuse it. I've personally witnessed houses full of kids who look like they are fresh out of one of those "Adopt-a-kid" commercials, yet they have a row of satellite dishes on the roof and 2 brand new Lincolns in the driveway. It sickens me.

What sickens me more though, and what sent me on my rant earlier, was the assumption that just because someone accepts government assistance, they are some sort of lazy piece of trash, deserving of ridicule and disgrace. I don't care if you're on welfare or a billionaire, I'll judge you by the type of person you present yourself to be.
