Default Making metal oxidize/rust

Have a steel piece of metalworking/art that I want to put in the yard. The guy I got it from said it will eventually oxidize/rust and really look great. Which I agree. But I don't want to wait 6 months for this to happen, is there anyway I can speed this up and make it rust faster???

The only reason it rusts quick after that is because the steel/iron has no oil left on it to inhibit the rust....it's all consumed during the fire

And FWIW, lemon juice works great for this, as would a high concentration salt water bath

Wash it with soap and water to get any grease or flux off it and let it air dry.

Clean it to get all the oil off, then spray it with salt water.

Either clean it with soap and water (Dawn dish soap comes to mind) of a diluted mixture of muriatic acid (there is a certain method of diluting it or you can kill yourself). Then mix up some salt water (non-ionized or canning) salt, and spray it down. It will rust overnight, the warmer and more humid it is, the better it works.

This would be my choice.

Rub it down with some scotch brite pad to remove any oils on the surface and put de-ionized water on it. You will practically watch it rust..you will see results in 1 day.

What is de-ionized water and where would one get some??

Lots of ideas on here, I'll let everyone know which one works the best/fastest.

TJ - It's funny to see this request, as it's so backward from most posts that we typically see. Do you have any pics of this yard art? I'd like to see them, as well.
