Default excursion axles vs. super duty axles

I have been looking for some V10 excursion axles with 4.30 gears to swap out my 3.73's for. I was always under the impression that the super duty and excursion axles were the same. Come to find out the F250 axles have calipers on the opposite sides on the rear. The excursion axles have the calipers both on the backside of the vehicle. I also found out that the Dana 50 had a 10mm hub flange on the 99's and the newere trucks had a 13mm flange. There may be other differences, but these are what I have came up with so far. So now finding some 4.30 axles is going to be a bit tougher.

I think 50's are ttb (with wimpy little 44 spiders inside the carrier)....where as 60's are solid......but I wouldnt have any clue about something that new.....

so I guess I'm no help....

no many of the '99 and up run a solid D50 front axle...not a TTB setup.

I don't know about the rest of the Super Duty Fords but my 2000 4x4 F-250 Powerstroke has the 10.25 and not a dana 60. The rear covers look identical except the 10.25 is smaller.

talking about a D60 front not rear. All 99 up Super Duty/X's have the Sterling axle.

Oh you should have a 10.5 rear, I believe the 10.25 where the '97 and older F250/350

Yes you are correct. I knew that the 99-04 had the Dana 50 SA in the front, and the 99+ have the sterling 10.5.

My 05 F250 PStroke had a dana 60 front axle..coil over. What I was curious of is what the differences are between F250 axles and Excursion axles are? I found a set of excursion axles for $1100 for front 4.30's and rear 4.30's with a LSD. Problem is the 99 F250's(what I own) 10.5's rear calipers are clocked opposite of each other, where as the Excur has both calipers faced at the back of the truck....not sure what implications are about installing these. Also the excur has a 13mm flange in the front hub where as the 99 F250 has a 10mm flange....

Do you know if these places will do any type of trade with my axles?

So $1100 for two axles to swap in just to get 4.30 gears. Why don't you just swap in a new set of 4.30:1 gears instead of complete axles?

SD's switched from the 50 to the 60 around 2003'ish.. wasn't a 250 or 350 thing.

you will also have to figure out how to mount the coils on the front. since they came with leafs. it shouldnt be hard.

from what I have seen its going to cost a little more then $1100 for gears, and a master install kit + labor. And If I swap out axles I can sell mine and recoup some of the cost.

The 03 and 04 D60 front axles were leaf sprung. 05 is when they went to coil overs.
