Default How much does your daily commute cost now?

I calculated my last tank this evening when I shelled out $157 to fill my truck. My round trip each day is 36 miles. It costs me $0.289 cents per mile to drive my truck. Each day I spend $10.38 just to drive to work and back. That comes out to $218 a month.

I really try not to think about it....
I'm only about 5 miles or so from work, my car gets 26 mpg so I can go all week on $20

I'm going to either ride the scooter or the mountain bike when warm weather hits.

6.8 miles each way, and the H2 gets around 11 mpg at $3.28 a gallon.

Who cares :: If you think about it it just upsets you. Or you factor in a extra $200 on a house payment and move next door to work.

No, it really doesn't upset me. I work in the energy industry and understand the economics behind the general increase in prices. I don't always get the day to day volatility, but overall I know what is going on. Just get ready for your electric prices to skyrocket over the next 8-10 years while all the utilities are too busy fighting the Sierra Club instead of building power plants to meet our needs...

Since I got my passat TDI, I am averaging 48mpg. I drive 70 miles a day that is 1.46 gallons of diesel @ 4.19 per gallon comes out to $6.11 a day

I wouldn't mind a plug in electric car recharged by a windmill or solar panels.

company-provided development vehicles: $0.00 actual out-of-pocket cash.

Usually adds an extra hour or so a day working on things I find or that bug me, so if you figure my time as money, I pay extra.

Are you talking fuel costs only? or payment, insurance, maintenence, etc.. I think government rates currently are 48.5c per mile or so..

I drive 13miles x 2, so with my ~18-20mpg, I figure it costs about $5 a day to go to work. Big whoop.

Well, if you want to include insurance..... that adds about $50/week.....

Of course the scooter and mountain bike don't need no stinkin insurance.... and the scooter only costs $5/year for registration

Fuel cost only. I could go back and figure out my actual per mile cost including all my payments, interest, etc... It is all in my tax records for the past 4 years. I had it figured out at one time including oil changes every 12,500 miles and all the other maintenance expenses.

The current IRS mileage rate is $0.505 per mile I believe.

Nothing.

My daily driver broke down a month or two ago and I haven't fixed it yet. The Jeep isn't finished yet either, so I don't have a car.

I either walk or take the bus to class. If I need food, Hardings is only 4 blocks from my house.

I work all the way over in Detroit, but I just get a ride there with the guy I work with.

I think my fat ass has lost like 10 pounds since my car broke down lol.

Well 125 miles round trip, 45 miles per gallon (3 gal) @ $3.96 per gal roughly $12.00 per day.
