Default f250 tow rig question

I m looking at a 1992 f250 with the fi 460, the truck is in imacculate shape with 68k origional miles, it was used to tow a 5th wheel to florida in the winter and back to michigan in the spring, i know the gas milelage wont be great(please no ''its gonna suck dude'' responses, just looking for the numbers) but was wondering how bad, anybody use this set up? thanks in advance. bb

I had an 89 F350 crew 4X4 FI 460 and non OD trans. It would haul anything and the best mileage I ever got was 10 MPG running empty on the highway. I didn't even want to know what it was hauling a load but it was worse. It was a great tow rig if the gas doesn't bother you.

this one has the od trans, the mileage thing is a bit scary, i wouldnt really even consider it but this truck looks like new, absolutly no rust at all, and it would only be used for towing no dd ing

I don't worry about the mileage... Were going to play so i don't think about it too much. Sounds like a great tow rig...

i hear ya, i just cant believe the shape this thing is in, and with a full size bronco to tow it would be a good rig, if i dont wind up buying it I m going to ask the owner if i can post it here for her, it literally looks like a new truck

I had a 96 250 crew cab with the 460 automatic w/od. Would get about 7 mpg towing a 30ft travel trailer. Maybe 12 empty. Beautiful truck, loved it. Could tow anything up a telephone pole. Just have to stop halfway up for gas.

My buddy had a 97 F350 crew cab long box. 460ci AOD tranny 4.10 gears and 285's tires. I used his truck a few times, best I got for mileage was 12mpg. He used to tow a good size gooseneck flat bed full of beams from barns. Pretty heavy load, and he got anywhere from 8-10mpg. The truck did have duel tanks.....and you used them both all the time.
