http://www.earlycj5.com/tech/transferCase/index.php

could be the t-18 tranny, it was an option, most likely a t-86 or t-90

t-case is the 18

What option is that? The "4-speed without 4th gear" option?

I'll guess T-90 since the T-86 was the 3-speed used behind the V6.

it was an option to buy it with the t-18, the t-14 and t-90 were the standard transmissions, t-86 was for the v6 I looked at that wrong

I think what you looked at wrong was the "4 cyl 3 speed" in the title of the thread. According to the chart you linked to, that gives you only one option.

The flat 4 was swapped in, those came with F-heads for anyone interested.

Great starter trail rig!

I was wondering about that. I couldn't imagine jeep using a flat head in that body style. Good price, can't buy.

The rear 44 has 2-pc. axle shafts (not flanged 1-pc. shafts), which would mean it would be a pre-1970 model. It doesn't look like a T-18 was available then.
