Default front axle alignment

what is the proper angle to set a front axle caster to, and where do you measure from?

my educated brain says measure from the top of the knuckle, how far back should i go?

its for a D44 on a 89 xj running 37's

I just got done with a JK lift.. RE long arm.. With the arms screwed all the way in I could only muster 2.5deg of caster.. Although it goes down the road it's still a little shoppin'cart'like for me.. I'm going to cut the threads a little and take it back further to at least 4deg.. So I'd say 4deg min but some others might no better.

I like to have 5-8* pos. caster. If you're not doing a cut and turn of the knuckles you kinda have to compromise between good caster angle and good pinion angle. If you can do it without a bad pinion angle, get at least 5* and you'll be happy.

3 to 5 should be fine. The bigger the tire, the less caster you need.
