I'll be honest, my safety and my money are not worth risking it! I'de rather risk jail than be dead.

I had the gun in a gun bag also (not concealed, but close)!

if the state of illinois issues you a summons - the easy way out is to simply deny it, and state you were talking e-tough here on the forum :tonka:

(I obviously don't own a hand-gun, nor am I familiar with the laws of interstate transport of a personally owned hand-gun, but would have to believe that there are legal methods of transporting same given how mobile the American lifestyle is)

sucks about the shitty seller by the way. you can still bring me the scrambler when you come to pick up that humvee though

meh it's only time and travel money wasted. i would guess there is something more serious wrong with the vehicle. he was probably trying to unload it quick on a less concious buyer. if it wasn't meant to be so be it. keep looking.

Better to spend $300 on gas than to spend big $ on something you weren't immediately drooling over, especially if it's something you plan on having for a while.

It sounds like he was afraid you discovered something else wrong with the car when you accelerated. And that you were going to discuss the possible causes of that problem with your dad. His anger was an attempt to distract you from that car issue and to get you to leave so he could court a less knowledgable victim . . . err, buyer. ;)

physco

you're lucky the problems were easy to spot, and not internal/hidden. You should think of yourself as lucky.

I think the fine is probably a lot more money than the car. Be smart, and be safe.

To make this clear to everyone, I transported the weapon in a completely legal manner. I just had it for my own personal safety as I did not know what I would find when I got there.

You sir are a asshole. You should have just give him the money (plus a few extra bucks for his trouble) pushed the car on the trailer and left. What right do you have upsetting him like that. Ok joking aside. The guy sounds like a turd. He never drives or checks out a car before he buys it? Just send the cash and have it shipped? Even a 100 dollar parts car I check out.

Those people make me laugh. There is NO fawkin way I would buy a 20k + old car without driving it.

Quote:
I am the guy that bought the hardtop from Carl, I must say i looked the car over after he told me what he was asking for it and if i can sell my chevelle before someone buys his vette i told Carl i would be seriously interested in the car!!! POS not even close!! It is a rust free frame california car it isnt mint as far as paint and some other minor issues but when was the last time you saw a BB 4 speed clean frame/birdcage chrome bumper car in mint condition for under 20 g!!
I have bought and sold many classic muscle cars in the past 15-20 years and i would and will never let anyone drive one of my cars till they put the roll of cash in my hand PERIOD!!! if you wanna drive it buy it
I have drivin 4,6,12 hrs one way to look at cars in the past and if it wasnt what i wanted or felt it wasnt what was described i turned around and went home thats part of the hunt and the way it is!
I have 1 question for the buyer if you had the cash and intended on buying the car after driving it and agreeing with Carl on a price why would you need to talk to your DAD?? sounds to me like some hee hawin around maybe trying to drive his price down??
If you cant make an adult decision on your own maybe you should have your dad do your car shopping for you??
I have talked to and met Carl a few times and his stuff is pretty nice from what i`ve seen and he has always been a straight forward guy in a hobby of alot of crooks and liars. I have been to the museum type of places looking at cars for mid to upper 20 grand range and their stuff is usually half as nice as they claim. Keep in mind one guys mint condition is another mans parts car in this hobby!
P.S. Carl showed me tons of reciepts for work done and parts bought for the car including the engine build from a rep. corvette dealer and i dont think you could build a car like this for what hes askin for it? JMHO
This guy especially makes me laugh.... its a fawking vette big block or not. If he didn't disclose no roof, blown PS box etc... what makes you think he wouldn't leave out slipping tranny/sawdust in the tranny etc...

^^ No joke.

I can't believe the Guy was mad that you drove it. I mean, It is a Nice car, and he has alot of work into it But, IMO, when you are selling a car the best thing to do is be polite. Let the Buyer check it out. If I went to get a Car and buy it and the guy refused to let me drive it, I would leave and tell him no thanks, I need to be able to drive a car to hear all the noises. It seems very odd that he would just buy a car and load it. maybe even a bit stupid. Good luck, I hope not too much D-rama will enter the thread.

well if it makes you feel better my bro had that happen when he found a vette he wanted to buy, the guy said it was a nice car clean paint etc.

we get there to look at it it has the wrong radio. interior had some mismatched parts etc. but it was a decent car for the price. we asked to drive it the guy said it had no gas. my brother had cash in his pocket. total BS. some guy shows up after us and buys it while we are there looking at it!!

Sounds like your better off. I am a car dealer and play a little with muscle cars and I completely drill the seller and let them know how upset I have been in the past when seller's have misrepresented their mechandise. It still does'nt get through to all of them but atleast they know what I am going to look for. I'm sure your better off, but it looked like the 68 may have matched the one you have in your avatar. Good luck.
