Default Diesel JK-possiblity of sorts.

I'm bored at work, and just found this dicking around. Doesn't sound completely far-fetched, but I've never read autoblog before.

This month's Peterson's magazine alluded to the same thing, but didn't give any details.

So is this a quality diesel motor, or is it the one that has had several issues in the Liberty? Diesel liberty owners seem equally split between liking the vehicles, and thinking they're lemons.

Libby diesel had EGR problems. This engine comes without the EGR and should be trouble free.

Is yours an '06? '05 was the trouble year for EGRs. They had plenty of torque converter issues in '05 also. And some filter issues. We've got an 06.

I've got a 06.. Hopefully all is well with it.. Seems to be doing pretty good so far.. Only problem I've had is the rotors in the back rusted to nothing in 22000 miles.. and one blew apart and took a perfectly good brake pad with it.. I took it to Palace CJ just because they where close to my work and they said I needed rear brakes and rotors.. I was like .. No Shit.. Would not waranty it..

Yeah, my rear rotors are pretty sorry looking too.
Do make sure you're keeping up with the maintenance schedule.

I would assume its the 3.0L out of the new Grands. The 2.8L Libby motor is discontinued do to emissions.

It's a 2.8. They shouldn't need to worry about emissions since it's a crate engine.

I didn't read the article posted, I was thinking this was a factory option available in the future.

My engineer buddy @ Chrysler told me in October last year that Jeep was working on a Diesel for the Wrangler in 2010.... don't know if it is still the case or not though.

See I Jinxed myself.. On the way home today the damn thing blew a hole in the CAC out hose.. Barely made it home.. Called dealer.. Looking at a week to get part.. Can't be without the jeep for that long.. Nothing a little piece of exhaust tubing, 2 hose clamps, and a whole roll of electrical tape couldn't fix.. Must be to much boost..
