Gas prices aren't only f'in with our sport they are driving up the prices of EVERYTHING you buy daily, hell my fuel bill back and forth to work is triple what it was 3 years ago. A tractor trailer on average gets about 8mpg of diesel -- all that gets passed on to you too. I can't say that my wages have kept up either.

BTW it is a cheap hobby for those of us that don't pound the shit out of our rigs when we are on the trail. I can count on one hand how many tragic breaks I have had (IE more then a couple hundred dollar fix).
My point is to live within your means. If you don't have the money to wheel, then don't do it. Same thing as any other hobby people have. If you can't pay cash, you probably don't need it.

Sorry that we disagree on how affordable wheeling is or should be, but I see no reason for name calling.

I just had a fire truck towed by Allied towing and the guy told me he just filled up for $875, said he was glad it wasn't empty.

How exactly do you suggest that we do that? The government is corrupt. We have the option of voting on people that are supported and prepped by the current political system. There is nothing that can change thru the current process of voting out elected officials. They are just replaced by also corrupt politicians. The only people that are truly outraged are those of us who aren't minorities, don't sit on welfare, and don't vote Democrat.

Primarily highway driving (I-75). Unless diesel gets to $5.25, it will still be more economical for me to drive a diesel (unless I start pedaling).

AMEN to another TDI owner. I was flamed by the macho boys on this board a while ago because I drive a Jetta TDI as my DD. I'm GAY because of the vehicle I drive, but I'm not whining about getting 45 MPG @ 75 MPH on the highway From the vehicle I was driving 1 year ago ( 04 WJ with 6 cyl engine) on the same commute as I make today ( 125 MI a day) I save $364 a month in fuel cost by driving diesel.

1) Fuel - Supplier vs. Demand = $

2) Our Country (USA) does not have the refining capability to keep up the the usage demands. Our elected officials (if you voted for them or not) have, though heavy legislation, have made it impossible to obtain the permits need to build a new reifnery...Nor drill for crude in Alaska...build nuclear power.... = $$

3) It US $ is in the crapper (When was the last time th US $ was worth less than the Can $?). This could do to foreign gov'ts market manipulation of our money...NAFTA...= $$$

4) Again Supply vs. Demand - We are competing with our country's war machine...as well as the other western powers...$12B per month worth...for fuel! = $$$$

So...What do we do about it?? We all need to get off our collective A$$es and let our elected officials (at the national level) know that we are struggling and they need help us! We need to be tactful and smart - sound like a concerned Constituent...we need more refinerys...oil...economy. If we approach our elected officials with a united message, things will be done...Our upcoming prez election will be about real issues again....

I'm done now...Thanks for listening!! I feel better now!!

that my friend is a very good question that I have not found an answer yet. I wonder every day how to change it. when I figure it out I will let you know.

the problem does not lie with removing the corruption it lies with convincing people that it's time to take a stand.

exactly... why even have it if you are not going to reply to it. is the government sooo dumb that they set up an email and think they are only going to receive an email once in a while?
