Default Tithing

Do you tithe and do you believe the Lord gives back ten fold due to your gernerosity?

I believe that God has blessed me and was just wondering others thoughts.

I use 10% as a rule of thumb, and try to follow that guideline. But here is the thing, I DO NOT give money to God with expectation of getting some back. Jesus is not some secret lottery maker, I give because of the abundance he has given to me, not with the anticipation of a kick back. Ten percent is not that generous, ever hear of an offering?

Here are some blogs I wrote about financial matters, faith, and trustworthiness. All of this is within the context of giving faithfully to God.

I agree 100%, but I also believe that the reason I've been blessed is due to my generosity and God seeing that and blessing me for it. I also agree that 10% is not that generous. I belive that that 10% is Gods from the get go and I try to go above and beyond that.

I do when I remember too. Alot of the time I simply don't remember to bring the Cash to Church. I get to it eventually. So, what do you guys think about writing checks for Tithes and expecting a statement from your church saying your total giving? My dad's church does it. Don't make any sense to me.

Every church gives out tax documents, because contributions are tax deductible. Our government has determined that to be acceptible, so if you are gonna give the money anyway, why not get a tax benefit? You would actually be able to give MORE by getting on their giving list. I actually give my tithe in cash, but I put it in a giving envelope so it is tracked. I have absolutely no moral qualms about it, but thats just me.

I know the catholics need this money to continue to pay off the families of molested boys and to relocate the pedofiles to other churchs. Anyone hear a recent total of the hush money paid lately? I think it in the 100's of millions.

I tithe because it is God's money anyways. I tell people that my Father is the richest in the world.

Woodhaven FWB church down in Woodhaven MI is where I would have sent it if I tithed then since that is my home church. Sadly I didn't.

I went to the young church a few times while attending CMU and a couple others but never really felt at home at any of them

I love the church I attend now and tithe.

I'm glad you will give Mike, charity is a great thing! If you'd like I could find a ton of scripture passages on it for you.

That is a sad situation that should have 1. never happened and 2. been taken care of in a much better way.

Sometimes, tithes. the tenth part of agricultural produce or personal income set apart as an offering to God or for works of mercy, or the same amount regarded as an obligation or tax for the support of the church, priesthood, or the like

yes, 10%

It is an old testament term, the idea was related to farming, when the crop was fully grown, the first ten percent was given to the storehouse for the Lord. It was the farmer's first fruits given to God.

In new testament times, God has instructed us to give our "first fruits" back to God, but also to give offerings.
