Default Powerstroke F-150

I was stopped in traffic this morning when a new diesel F-150 rolled by, had an "M" plate and goofy exhaust (similar to the new Dmax). I about busted a nut. Must of been a pilot testing vehicle of the past, as the 6cyl powerstroke project was canceled last i heard.

i haven't read anything about it being canceled, last i knew all the big three where adding diesels to their half tons. i doubt ford would waste anytime on a discontinued idea. but...knowing some of the dumbshit ford has been known to do i wouldn't put it past them either.

I am pretty sure Ford had a falling out over the huge issues the 6.0 had but since they had a contract with the supplier (International or Navistar, can't remember which) they were forced to continue buying until the contract was done.

2010 model year 6 cylinder diesel F-150.

Some talking going on as to the status of Michigan Truck though. Dearborn truck has the ability to run 7 lines and thus shift production from Michigan truck and shut that place down.

Last week we had a assembly line test run for the diesel.

Not sure what kind of effort is being made on sharing the engine with the Expedition/Navigator line as yet. Diesels have always been a hard sell on the US consumer. It wouldn't be the same model year if it were to happen though.

All the big 3 are launching diesel 1/2 tons in 2010. IIRC, all are around 4.5 liters. GM has a small duramax V8, Dodge has a small cummins V8, Ford... Last I heard it was a Rover 4.4 liter V8 turbodiesel, not a V6, but who knows.

I suppose I could snoop around we probably do the engine controls and injectors for most of them.

Fail

We don't make any automotive size engines, smallest is a 14L. Unless you count the DD braned navistar stuff, that is smaller, but too large for a pickup.

The Ford diesels have been built by International/Navistar.

The old GM diesels (6.2 liter) were detroit diesels.

i'm scared now. Been doing some poking and apparently this diesel is being done completely in house. It's not the Rover one anymore.

funny, if it were confidential we wouldn't be given scoops to media folk yet on some tidbits. As for being wrong, nope. Plans are never final though.
