LOL! Nice ... I'm an audiophile but I am also an Engineer and I don't buy any of that crap online about wires needing burned-in, $3000 interconnects, etc. The *ONLY* time you notice a difference in wiring is if it is undersized or improperly shielded. PERIOD!

If anyone here is looking for decent cables for a reasonable price, check out bluejeancable.com or zebracables.com. As far as Monster cables go, they are junk! Nothing more than Radio Shack with a fancier logo. Built in China and the quality sucks! Very inconsistent cable to cable.

CC - you an audiophile? Why you looking at audioholics?

My home 2-channel setup is a Rega P2 w/Denon DL-103 cartridge -> Modified Rotel Phono Preamp -> Luminous Audio Axiom Passive Preamp -> Modified Dynaco ST-70 -> Klipsch RF-7's. My goal this summer is to replace the phono and passive preamps with Bottlehead Seduction and Foreplay for an all-tube signal path.

I'm not really an audiophile, and nothing you said there makes any sense to me, but I have an average home theater setup

I just replaced some of the cables I had been using in my home theater setup. For one, my new hdmi cable is a gold shielded with silver connectors a good 1/4"-3/8" thick cable. The old one was a mere 3/16" thick with gold contacts and not sure of the shielding. The picture difference between the two cables was astonishing. For audio, I try and only use optical between the output device and my stereo center. Bose acoustmass 10 series speakers. The speakers use a flat cable specific to the Bose setup. Although I cant remember what I used for connecting the Bose sub ( the manager) to the Sony speaker center. I've never had an issue with my sound though. It's always been incredible if the content was properly formatted. I've found some dvd's to not be very well encoded to use 5.1 properly. surround volumes are typically too low.

I have good stuff between house and computer thats it TV is old POS with a digital cable box and we don't watch it enough to upgrade though we talked about getting a new flate screen just for space saving and to ditcht he entertainment center and moving the mutiple gamming systems in to a room down stairs and get it all out of the living room, thats all this house cares about, last thing I need to do is get bit by a audio bug and go nuts in teh cash department in sitting on my butt entertainment

I agree that is also why I am trading all of my CD/DVD players for a record player and 8-track combo :tonka:

Laugh all you want ... I'll take the Pepsi challenge with vinyl vs. CD ANY day of the week! Bring me vinyl and the same album on CD. The vinyl will kick CD's ass! And to compare apples to apples, you saw my vinyl setup above. The CD is a modified NAD-521CBEE running to the Axiom, Dynaco and same RF-7's.

I've had many "uneducated" people laugh when I mention vinyl. Then they come over for a listen and I serve it up with a fresh glass of STFU!

Audio is like love ... beauty is in the eye of the beholder! LOL!

I'd take the $200 and buy more CD's instead of Bose. Don't get me wrong, their old stuff was kick-ass ... 901's, classic 301's (my garage speakers), but mid-80's he sold out! Now they all sound the same ... bass like pounding on a cardboard box.

Huh? More details please! Just curious because with Fostex quality vs. price and now with Lowthers being semi-affordable, I'd be hard pressed to build vs. buy. I do miss the old Klipsch and Altec horns! They don't make them like they used to!
