Thanks for the Economics lesson. I didn't say I couldn't afford because of the entrance fee, but add it up.

300 miles one way, 10mpg towing. $120

Food, hotel $200
$45 at the gate

$120 home.

It starts to add up after a while.

I mean if you want to go to the mounds every weekend and burn a tank of gas or less getting there and pay $7 to get in I can see what your saying....but go somewhere halfway fun and well.....

No it doesn't matter at all, I was just curious as to what people thought. I am sorry.

Well...let's see...there could be TWO parks closing...

Badlands stays open and is run by someone that knows what they're doing...win/win.

Its not a cheap sport! And with $4.00 a gallon gas prices on the way, I'm guessing more and more people will find cheaper alternatives.

You spent 450 this weekend, theres many cheaper alternatives out there!

Explains who they could build that nice house posted above.

$20 a day seems fair to get into a park....$30 a day for a single person seems steep.

Heck I think Turtle Rig is $20-25 for one driver. Its an additional $5 if you have a second driver....I'm sure other parts are that way.

That's kinda the point. The $50 for the weekend extra on gate fees is going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back. But everyone always wants to argue that.

$30 for the mounds, 45 for the badlands, 75 for the comp on drummond, $50 for GLFWDA and I only wheeled 3 times so far.

When does it end?

Thank God. Those trails were getting extremely sad, new blood means new and improvement of current trails! Very much a Win for us wheelers.

It doesn't....then if you break something major, there goes your funds for the next trip. What if you have an emergency at home with some repairs. That takes away from a wheeling trip also.

I dont think it ever ends....unless you just web wheel like me. Which I'm going to have to continue doing after my fridge took a crap over the weekend

he left because troy was closing the machine shop, im sure it is all tied together though.

I just hope the entrance fee stays close to where it is.

Badlands is not worth any more money than what they charge now. I will gladly put anything extra they want to charge in my tank and head further south.

Paragon was planned out very well. Trails were marked and always opening new ones. I am sure kyle will work the property to its full potential. I am glad to hear it was him and not someone else. Has anybody heard if the property where his house is will still be accessible?

Paragon was an awesome park that was well laid out. It was worth the gate fees based the quality maps, good trail layout, size, etc.

If they can make some improvements to the Badlands and open up more cool trails and mark them well, I think it will be a good thing.

X2 and my favorite park as diferant trials and manmy line makeing it harder or easy so stockers could run the same trails as the hardcore guys as our groups allways stuck together, paragon will be missed , but Badlands should improve

Wow you are just a ray of sunshine today

Iirc PAP had a 25 yr lease to operate on the land and the closure had more to do with greed and dirty politics by the land owners than anything else. Based on many wheeling trips at PAP, it was run fairly well.

Comparing the mounds to anywhere is like comparing a Hugo to a Hummer H1. Unless you're just into mud, a day at PAP or RC is worth a year at the mounds. PAP had a great variety of well marked trails. I don't know about the badlands, but if the new owners bring the same organizational skills and commitment to making more and varied levels of trails, then they will be a benefit to the park.
