Default Working On my Bumper *It's done*

The first pic is most of the pieces for the bumper. Shackle mounts, reciever, frame brackets and winch plate. The frame plates and winch mount are both 1/4 inch plate. The reciever. NOT FOR TOWING, is 3/16 wall tube and the shackle mounts are 1x2 solid stock. I only put the reciever in because it is easier to move the boat around my yard.

I wanted 3x5 tube for the main body of the bumper but they didnt have it when I was there so I decided to use 2x6 3/16 wall tube. It wont change my plan much so I will still be happy with it.

I am going to use plate to fill in the gap to match the winch mount on the back side. I will also gusset the winch mount.

I hope to get this done in my free time within the next couple of weeks.

Jeremy

I got it tacked to the mounts today. I still need to get new steering box bolts but I have time. you can see in the pics where I marked the bumper to taper the ends.

Ran out of wire at the shop so I could'nt finish it. I know a good weld looks like a stack of dimes but the welds on the D-ring mounts look like a stack of nickles.

I have about 3 inch gap between the bumper and the jeep.

So I made some plates to fill in the gap. I will grind them smooth so the look good.

I dont think the winch mount sticks out to far. Here you can see the gussets I made for the winch mount.

Head on view.

Default Its Done

I got it done last night so I thought why not go out in the cold rain and put it on.

I also started triming the fenders.

In the end it wieghs 69lbs. I dont think that is to bad. It sure is alot stronger than the POS stock bumper I took off.

Thanks for the comments. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I think I might start working on sliders next.

Looks good! i like it. If it were mine, I think I'd cut some plates to fill in the bottom of the winch mount. That would look real nice.
