I had my D50 with 70-300 on a tripod and used a remote but couldn't get any pics to come out sharp. I'm not too happy.

Probably could have gotten better pictures without it. 2x TCs degrade a lot of the image quality to start and then in low light conditions it was made worse by having to go to a 5 second shutter speed in your pics and you didn't get to stop down the aperture as much being at 5.6. Hard to guess not knowing the exact lens but the best sharpness often comes in around 7.1 or 8.



It a lot easier to get sharper pics when its not an eclipse and there is more light also

I took this at 200mm also with the same lens.

Its one of the cheaper pro quality telephoto lenses so not that much comparativly to many others
