Default Toy front/rear axle interchange

I lost the rear diff on my 85 4Runner on the way to Sno-Blind. I have a set of 4.375 diffs from an 80 yota truck. I have heard that the front and rear are interchangeable. Can anyone confirm this? I have front dissassembled and need to get truck back on the road. The rear axle is buried in hibernation till spring. So I want to put the front one in the rear till I can get time and warmer weather to swap the front.

Yeah, the 78-85 fronts and 78-95 rears are interchangeable 3rds.

That's not any way to treat someone that gave you a free transfercase for your build-up. Sheesh, ungrateful.

I am going to throw a new seal in it tonight and stuff it in the axle this weekend to gat it rolling for now. The extra gear should help a little.
