Default opening day at silver lake

Me and my buddies are planning on going to silver lake on april 1st. I've only been there once before late last year. We were wondering if there was anything special we needed to get in on opening day. I already have my ORV sticker and flag. I can buy a state park pass there, right? How early should we get there? Thanks for your help.

Okay, going to silverlake on opening weekend sounds like fun but it really isn't. There are soooo many idiots there it's not even funny!!

I would wait and go later. The sand will still be there so what's the rush and it might be warmer.

yes warmer

Opening day last year wasn't busy at all. I was there from 9:30 am til about 5 pm, and it wasn't a "madhouse."

i go there every year but never went opening day, but if u need a pass like you do for the weekends u just drive down that main road near the entrance, and theres a dirt road headin off to the the right if u head away from the entrance they give out dune passes for certain times and days...if u get there a day or 2 ahead ull be good, but im not sure if ur required for the dnr pass for openin day.......and take it easy on widow maker or test hill (biggest hill there) which ever u prefer to call it, it can be a bitch i rolled it last year and i wasnt even drivin fast, it was so windy that it peaked the hill so it was straight up and straight down, and as a result i went straight up and straight over, and watch out for all the maniacs that think there rigs can handle nething

opening weekend all depends on the weather, if its nice, the dunes are packed, if its anything less than nice weather no one is there...last year was great opening day, i was on the dunes all day and never was bothered.
