Angry Aarrghhh Craftsman!!!

normally.. not a big deal.

today i was plastigaging, ringing and putting in my pistons. tightening the cap nuts with 35lbs torque wrench, i didnt even hit 35lbs and the socket shattered into my FRESHLY MACHINED AND CLEANED block.

ive got the 3 main peices out, but there are still tiny ones. what to do. what to do.

Magnet?? Don't know exactly how you're going to get it way down in there, but a flexible magnet may work decently

ah eys... and yet another of Leanz threads goes straight to the gutter...

I would make some comment about that picture of you and your "young cat" but I'll just say...

That sucks about the broken socket, and ditto on using a magnet to try to get the peices out. Or maybe what you really need is a small tube attached to a shop vac to try to suck them out. (nothing intended)

I'm thinking the socket was cracked before she used it, even crapsmans arn't that bad.

i used it the last 3 days for only 35 lbs of pressure, never threw it on the ground or anything -- set it on the table when i was done.

I am assuming the motor is on a stand?

Can you rotate the motor enough to get the pieces to all fall into one spot, then scoop them out?

I hate Crapsman sockets. They tend to strip bolt heads, Span-On is a better socket IMO. BTW why were you using a 12 pt. on a 6 pt. fastner? That is if it was a 6 pt bolt.

Are you wearing an engagement ring?
After the man-hand post, I had to go back and look to see if they were male or female and I noticed the ring. j/w
