Here is an internet petition from Mike Rogers for the legislation he is sponsoring to stop those A-holes that are protesting the funerals of our fallen soldiers.

sorry, I can't vote against freedom of speech.

Even though these people are evil, this is the USA.

Piss on any representative that would remove their rights.

Kelly, I don't know if you are kidding or not, but this bill won't take away their right to protest, but it moves them back far enough so the family can grieve in peace.

It is not againts freedom of speech. It says they cant bother the mourners for an hour before and after the funeral.

I know you like to be shocking and try to be a jackass but get real Kelly. Trust me. If you were anywhere near these people for 2 minutes you would want to take away there rights to free speech.

Thanks for the link Karen.

I would like to see the westboro people be followed home to there community and terrorized. Limiting free speech is a dangerous thing. I would like to see the westboro people react to their own tactics, using shock tactic like having homos kissing on the pastor’s lawn of his home .... Well by the street so no to trespass, just follow them everywhere and make their life hell. Why aren’t the gays getting militant and taking car of this. Every church service should have 100s of flamboyant gays outside making out on the sidewalk near the church ..... Ill think of more later but you get the idea. Westboro and Phelps aren’t the only ones that can use free speech to make other uncomfortable, and they are such a small % they will be crushed by the masses. The only thing they have going for them is their blind commitment to their misguided hated movement.

Ohh does anyone know are they protesting the route to the graveyard, or are they actually allowed inside the gates of the cemetery? Why can’t they keep them out of a private ceremony on private property? Seems rather simple.

Just like the black panthers, communists, and Arian nation KKK etc can have rallies. But they have to file for permits, and I don’t think the Westboro should be denied their right to speak out against gays. Just not at funerals, they can do it at the town square, city park, where ever and their rights are not infringed then.

Yeah, I say some stuff just to provoke crap sometimes, but this is a stupid law.

please read this:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

DO NOT LET YOUR REPRESENTATIVES ALTER THE CONSTITUTION. No matter what the reason is.

Sure, those people are sickening to me, as I think they are to 99% of the us. if 10 of them show up, 100 normal thinking people should show up to silence them.

If they are chanting, and holding signs, that is fine. If they are throwing rocks, and spitting on people, they will go to jail.

"The measure bans protests 60 minutes before, during, or 60 minutes after the service, and requires that any such protests must stay at least 500 feet from the funeral site."
I am a veteran and a member of most of the veterans organizations on his "endorsement" list.
I oppose any legislation which further restricts any civil freedom of expression.
I am also in opposition to the proposed "flag desecration" amendment to the Constitution.
Both concepts are honorable in purpose but restrict the freedom of expression, which I hold more dear than any other.
There are other means of achieving the same purpose without more legislation.

If this is like the same one they just passed in Colorado, it's not to stop them but, to keep them at least 300 feet of the place of worship or funeral home, where ever the funeral is being held. Just so that they aren't parking their asses on the front steps of these places. When they were at the funeral here in Flushing, the family didn't even know they were there until after, thanks to the Patriot gaurd and the police.

As you can see it is overloaded, and it constantly down..

Just in case you think I hate us soldiers.

This is actually what is wrong with the American public. Our society is too emotion driven. We let emotions get in the way of the rules that were laid down hundreds of years ago by the people that created this country. If you change the rules for this why not change them for something else too? Once you open the flood gates there is no going back

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech whether or not you agree with it, or if its right or wrong in your mind. In these people's mind it is right.

Kelly I do no think you hate the U.S. soldiers. This is just something that I believe is a good way to keep people like this away without removing their rights. They still have the right to assemble and annoy people. Just not for 60 minutes before and after the funeral, in a certain area. They can be a block down saying whatever they want. The PGR kick ass.

So all laws that were created hundreds of years ago should be followed. None can be changed.

How about some of these, should they still be inforced?

Florida
It is illegal to skateboard without a license.

Mississippi
It is illegal to teach others what polygamy is.

Montana
Seven or more Indians are considered a raiding or war party and it is legal to shoot them(Sorry G-man)

Nevada
It's still "legal" to hang someone for shooting your dog on your property

And I guess we can say goodbye to CC if he ever goes to Florida
