Default Snorkeling a 1987 extended cab

My truck is in need of a snorkel. I try to compete in mud bogs with the big boys. I do ok but I think I can win on the right day. My last run I was running great and then got wet. It shut me right down. I need a snorkel. Homemade is the way I heard. Any and all help wanted. Thank you. You can check out my runs at unemployedfilms.com

define 'it shut me right down'

that sounds more like a wet coil/ignotor

If you want to run mud, learn how to waterproof everything under the hood.

A snorkel is simple, just get some PVC and go at it. The factory airbox already is pretty sealed, it just draws from the front. Seal that, run a pipe out the side of the airbox, then up through the fender and up the a pillar. Not rocket science..

rought it in to the cab

when I built mine I came out the front of the air box with 2" pvc and then used a tight 90 up-wards to clear the top of the box, there I ran another 90 straight back throught my fire wall in to the cab, it took some work to move some shit around to get a streight shot but it can be done.

ps this will make your truck loud as fukc when driving

I lost a motor once because of Toyota's poor choice of air intake myself. I got rid of that piece behind the headlight and just cut a hole in the inner fenderwell so i could run 3in PVC from the tube off the front corner of the airbox into the space behind the fender and ran it back near my door hinge. Now when i charge into water-mud holes i don't get water in my airbox anymore.
