wow, I REALLY like it. Best re-do I have ever seen. Usually production stuff never looks cool, but that is the perfect balance between new and old. sweet ride!

I always thought the Challenger was a big car for that era, but side by side, the new one looks bigger. Kind of deceiving.
Me like!

While I like the looks of the car (black makes it look A LOT better too)...

1) it's a pig....4140 lbs?? 20 mpg?? I know there are more safety standards, but the (current) mustang ways far less than this, and the old challanger weighed 3100 pounds....half a ton more??
2) for 40+K you don't get the best performance number
3) Interior made from Tupperware??

And, I honestly can not believe they're not launching the SRT8 with an available MT - this car is geared more towards 50-60 year olds attempting to (somewhat) relive their youth, not 30-40 somethings who want a performance car.....

Edit: for that cost, I'll put my money on a functional four door sedan (ala SRT8 300) if I was going to buy a chrysler product

if i were gonna buy one i'd wait till the 09 production model year starts. available 6 speed, SRT-8 package and all the goodies will be available then. i'm not a big Mopar guy but i would very seriously consider buying a new challenger if i had the $$. i bet this thing will sell like hotcakes because of the available 6 cylinder model that all the Image people buy. they want a nice car with good MPG and not too much HP.

that's because they are....that interior is essentially lifted directly out of the magnum. IMO, that's a major turn off in chrysler's vehicles - the interiors blow big time

If this car sells well it will only be because of the nostalgia behind it....

if you look at it. all vehicles in one brands line up look the same. all dodges look the same, all chevy's look the same, all fords look the same etc....thats because that apparently is what sells. even the japanese imports all look the same, except all there stuff looks the same no matter who makes it.

Just about every other OEM does the same thing.

Ever notice how every GM vehicle has the exact same steering wheel?

In this case, though, he's right. The Challenger is running mostly stock LX interior. It uses the Charger's instrument cluster, for sure (we make for both cars), which is one of the big things you see.

The instrument panel/dash/center stack often accounts for as much a 1/6th of a total vehicles development cost, so its an are they like to skimp on to save money.

On the other hand, the new Camaro has a sweet interior, not shared with anything else. And they have 6 speeds in the SS models. I'm doing the dash on those now, it'll be much cooler than the one in the Challenger. Hehehe, I've got an SS downstiars, right now, actually

I am happy they priced this defensively. Maybe you won't see them every day, instead collectors and car lovers will buy them because they are getting a value for their dollar.

Right, the interior is just like any other LX platform and looks nothing like the concept.

I can see the Camaro costing way more and having the same issue they did with the previous generation.
