too bad you don't have a shop to work on it in...

maybe you should post some specs, plans etc so we can all critique you

maybe post in the wanted section for stuff you need or post in here (wanted would be better)

welcome to the intraweb, and let me know if you ever need wrenching help :)

Nice looking project. Looks like you have a nice, SOLID frame. Post up some pics as your project moves foward!

Nathan,

Let me know what kinds of little parts you're looking for...I have a lot of VERY cheap CJ parts, and I'm close-by. You're welcome to swing by sometime and take a look. Nice project, and VERY nice workspace, BTW.

Hey Nathan,

Your project looks great!
Where abouts in Hudsonville are you located? Actually, I was kind of surprised when I saw this post. I'm also currently rebuilding a '78 CJ-7 (see my avatar) and am also located in Hudsonville. Oh, and by the way, my names Nathan (Nate for short). Kind of ironic, huh?

Anywho, I hope to see you and the jeep around sometime,

Nate

hey, I got some specs. Basicly for now my plans are to make this thing like it was but in lots better shape. i figure i can do more to it later (beef up axles, bigger lift, ect) its a 78 cj7, i think it has a 2" rough country lift on it, t-150 3 speed trany, model 20 transfer case, model 20 rear, model 30 front, and a 304 that i just put a double roller timing chain, a mild cam, edelbrock intake and carb. it used to have a 2 barrel carb and stock cam and intake. hoping it will have some more snap now. im working on it at my work, forest grove auto. (4010 Byron rd, corner of 40th and byron rd. stop by sometime Nate!) . I know im pretty spoiled to have a place like this to work on it! heres some pics of how bad my frame used to be. ill list some "stuff" i need. thanks craig any tips and advice is welcome!

Seriously? I just stopped in there a while back for a trailer tire. I'm right around the corner from you, close to Adams and 32nd.
Oh, BTW, I'm currently parting out a Grand Wagoneer - if you could use any parts off it, let me know.

I love it when I see someone building an old CJ. As much as I like my TJ, I can't wait to start another CJ build. Back when I had my old '7 (one of many) I always swore I'd never buy a "yuppy-ass Wrangler" of coarse I also swore I'd never get married or have kids or.......

Nathan,

Shoot me a PM if you're interested in replacing that AMC 20 axle with a stronger Dana 44 (same narrow-track width as yours). I had one that I planned on using for my Scrambler, but I'm going a different route. I actually have two of these complete (one for spare parts) that I'd sell for $100 for the pair. Let me know if you mgith be interested.

These have 30-spline, 1-pc. driveshafts.

Nice CJ! Doing a similar thing with an 87' YJ. Been working on it over 2 years now. was a rust bucket when purchased but got a smokin' deal and been building as $ allow.
