Default I need a patch or merit badge

Some of you may have wasted brain space on remembering some of my "interesting" meals that include mass quantities of candy and junk food.

Well, since Dec 31 I have not had:
- any form of candy
- fast food (McD, TB, BK, Wendy's. . .)
- cola
- carbonated, caffeinated beverages
- only consumed 1 12oz beer- Negra Modelo.

No NY resolutions, just decided to try and cut that stuff out cold turkey style. The only form of candy I've had in the past month is a piece of Orbit "mint mojito" gum that I'm currently chewing to get rid of my Indian lunch breath.

No change in weight because I'm not exercising. . . yet. Yay for me.

/end meaningless diatribe.

congrats.

I'm down almost 40lbs since October. I cut out exactly what you did, and 30lbs fell off in a couple weeks. Then I started drinking beer again.
Ive only met you once, but I don't remember you being a fatty.

Yea, a lot of people don't believe me when I say I weigh ~275#. Once the weather breaks, I'll get back on the bike again. I should see some good results.

One damn thing I haven't been able to shake is potato chips. Is there a potato chip anonymous chapter anywhere in metro Detroit? F'ing late evening potato chip cravings are intense. Quitting soda and candy was nothing. Chips are like heroin.

If you're eating a reasonable amount of chips with no trans fats in them it isnt' too bad for your health....you don't have to cut all the junk food out of your diet, just eat the healthy forms of the junk food...try whole wheat pretzels instead, just read lables!

good job with cutting out all that other adicting food!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about potato chips. We can start our own support group. Congrats on giving your colon a break

After watching nearly everyone in my family have some sort of health crisis, I decided to take a little better care of myself. I cut out junk food/pop (which I didn't really consume that much of), red meat and salt (which I put on absolutely everything), and joined the YMCA. I didn't really care too much about losing weight, but I lost 30+ lbs. The main thing is I'm 10x healthier than I was before.

I can't wait for the weather to improve. I used to ride my bike about 14 miles a night for 3-4 nights a week then usually 26 miles or more on the weekend.

I am in the 300 lb club. 6'4" 325 lbs. i have stopped drinking pop, and i never liked candy. my biggest problem is pizza. i could live on pizza. i have cut down to 1 a week on the weekends. i get a large jets and stretch it out over the weekend, and work out extra on monday. i stock up on apples and grape fruit, and i have some ultra low fat popcorn.

Cutting out pop, candy, and other sugars will drop pounds fast! I tipped the scales at 290 pounds in '06. Currently 210 and I'm square. By square I mean pant size is the same size - 34x34. This spring I'm going to drop 10 more and go 32x34.

I've just started trying to eat better too. I typically have a couple vending machine snacks, eat out for lunch and have a couple pops. At home I eat fairly healthy. In the past week I have cut out almost all red meat, no snacks, down to one cola per day max and today just started bringing a healthy sack lunch. My wife made me a trail mix with dried cranberries, oats, nuts & stuff. I'm also drinking alot more water.

I'm a lot older than most of you guys. (51) 6.0 and 235#.

My dad is 80, thin and very healthy. Here's the kicker that got me thinking. He said this to me:

Look around, you never see any old fat men. Think about it, he's right.
