Thanks Nick, I always enjoy when I see you driving by me. I've only been in this fire field for over 26 years now and have seen it all. All I can say is that fire truck could be on it's way to YOUR, family, or friends house! So please slow down or stop, pull to the right if you can and let them work on getting around you.

I try to get to the right side when possible. If i'm in the left turn lane and there are two lanes to the right of me I normally just stay put and slow to a stop.

I DONT slam on my brakes to come to a stop. I DONT pull across 3 lanes of traffic to get to the right. I try to make a quick check of the rest of traffic and get an idea where I will be the most out of the way for an emergency vehicle.

I have been in and had family in ambulances. I dont want to be the jackass that causes someone to lose a loved one because I held them up.

You do know I follow you around all day and see how I can screw with you, right?

Damn you're old. I barely been driving half that long. How bad were the horse drawn fire trucks?:tonka:

I always thought it was the law to pull over and stop on any road other than a divided (with a center median) type road, and id probably still do it even if it wasnt.

I've never heard it as being a law, just something we all do. Are you saying it's legal for them to speed too?

It is illegal to impede traffic, but if you can't go anywhere then they will have to deal with it. Like I said, I will not leave the roadway to let anyone by.

You won't get hit by an ambulance/ police car / firetruck when you have the green and are proceeding through an intersection. Emergency vehicles are required to slow / stop at intersections and proceed when safe ( until traffic yields).
In 34 years of driving ( including fire trucks / police vehicles and an occasional ambulance) I have never seen an emergency vehicle blindly blow through an intersection. I'm not saying there are not over zelous individuals who do this, I have never witnessed it.

I'm pretty sure this all was covered In drivers ED. If it wasn't, I do'nt know were I learned it. It's not that hard to stop, and it makes thier jobs easier. As many people have said.

So, one time I was out plowing and it was considered a "snow Emergency". The Cops were driving around with thier lights on....All the time. It was Pretty confusing for a while.

It wasn't in MI where I saw this, it was down south somewhere I don't remember exactly what state, GA or AL but I don't remember which! I see a lot of crazy shit driving around this country!
