Default please help me, I don't know what I should do.

ok, its going to be kinda long but please bear with me, because I need some outside opinions on this.

I am caught in the middle of a dispute between my wife and my brother. about a month ago, my family was over celebrating my daughters birthday. and my brother asked to see the remote control so he could check the score of the game. my wife has no interest in the game and has no desire to see it at all, well everyone was talking and so my brother kept the game on. well after a few minutes my wife takes the remote and turns th tv off while my brother and I were watching it. when my brother asked why she did that, she answered that she didn't want to see it. well my brother got pissed and left. and because he drove the rest of my family there everyone left about 20 minutes after they got there. I got pissed because I didn't want the situation to end that way, now both my wife won't call my brother to apologize because she thinks that he was wrong because she felt he just walked in to our house and just changed the channel, he won't call her because he feels she is wrong because she didn't make my family feel welcome in our house, now there is no relationship between my family and my wife, and it is tearing me apart. because no one will be the better person.

thanks for reading this any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Tell them they are adults and need to act like it. And she was wrong, mess with the TV when a man is watching it

tell your brother and wife to stop being bitches and make up, both of them are in the wrong. If that doesnt work punch your brother in the face and give the wife a cunt punt

If she (and you) are entertaining a group of friends and family. Isnt the objective to make there stay as welcome and comfortable as you can ?

That extends to the TV also. So long as the rest of the guests had no heartburn then wifey should not ethier.

Seems the problem is a bit more deep rooted then the TV. In any case, tell her to grow up and treat guests as guests.

Ok from a womans point of view I have a stance for your wife and your brother...

A - Men watch tv, thats just life...whats the big deal, she should be used to it, i'm used to it and im not even married yet! (ok, well i think some would argue if im really used to it, but for the most part)

B - If you guys were being completely unsociable and should have been "participating" in the events then I can kind of see how she'd be pissed..

but...to let something petty be so ridiculous?!?!?! come on...

edit: ops i missed the part that it was your daughters birthday why was anyone watching TV?

Nobody goes into a woman's house and does what they want if she is against it. IMHO, you need to take your wife's side, tell your brother he's acting like a child; you don't sleep with your brother (at least you shouldn't).

This silly little argument ruined your daughter's birthday - all because your brother wanted to watch the game and not interact with the family - how would he even know if he felt welcome or not?

As someone who knows neither your brother or wife I'd say your wife acted totally unreasonably.

I've had to sit through retarded "reality" television when I've had company over.

I would say opening your home to family and friends extends beyond the refrigerator and includes the television.

x2

You are partly at fault. It was your daughter's birthday, not a group of guys watching the game. You should have sided with your wife right on the spot.

And it sounds like the rest of the family have no balls either. How would they let your brother leave "20 minutes after they arrived" all over a game when they came there to celebrate the birthday.

Tell your wife she is right and tell your brother to suck it up...... he was wrong.

Seems there is more of a control issue than just with your brother. Don't you live there also. I he just walked in and didn't talk to anyone and just turned on the TV without an invitem that would be different, but he was watching the TV with his HOST. [and yea, the neice's birthday party can be somthing that doesn't keep your attention, obviosuly seeing how you were watching TV too]

pretty soon you wont be able to do anything you want to do and will have to sneak things like new tires and lockers.

i was there once. never again!!!!!!

i dissagree with a few of you. the wife was wrong! seems really hard to deal with. if your daughter had a problem with it it's a differant story. but cake and presents and i bet she gave two shits about people watching the game. what she can't understand is why mom made everyone leave because she wouldn't let someone watch the game.

this is just my opinion!! if my wife acted like that (tho she would be the one to turn the game on) i would be pissed. it's not called for and no big deal.

now punch your bro cuz you can't punch your wife.
