I started getting emotional at a job once, i excused myself to the bathroom and composed myself there. It's a job, and being professional is important, whether it be about something personal (which Should be left at Home) or about work issues.

Women crying is frowned upon because it's seen as weakness. What about Men(or women for that matter) becoming very Angry and blowing up irrationally? I find that inappropriate as well.

Except when they come in with a gun and blow the supervisor's head off....but we now have a "no weapons" policy to prevent that from ever happening again....

Let 'em cry at work...as long as they excuse themselves to a private area. Nothing is worse than an emotional blob in front of you that won't go away. Almost like they're milkin' it...even if it is subconscious.

On the other hand my old Navy Commander Rifkin...ahem was the biggest crybaby dude I have ever known. When he didn't get his way he whined and stomped and stuttered. It was pathetic. What's worse? The beeatch was in command of the entire ship. What an embarrassment!

on a more serious note, i wouldnt say no crying at work, but if you have to cry, ask to be excused, and go to a bathroom, or outside or something. everyone gets reprimanded, its part of life.

It depends one what you call "crying". Getting teary eyed during an especially emotional, stressful, or sad situation, and excusing yourself until you can regain your composure... no problem. That can happen to anyone, man or woman.

Full out balling your eyes out at the first sign of conflict or criticism... not good.

i would say NO to women crying on the job, if you have to go to a place where you have privacy and take care of it. but infront of boss/co-workers, no way

I've seen a few of the female nurses I work with cry, but only in really stressful/emotional situations, like if somebody just died. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I can't comment about in an office setting because I've never experienced that. I've never seen any of the men I work with crying.

When I worked at a restaurant a few years back, a few of us would place bets on who would cry first. It was always one of the same two girls.
