Default DVD based Navigation

just a quick question, my new car has DVD based navigation system already installed........am i able to play regular dvd's and watch movies with this setup, i am thinking no, but i wanna see if anyopne else has this setup....?Thanks

shove a dvd in there and see what happens. It will either play or it won't.

Dunno. Technically, its illegal, which may mean that it can't. (Its illegal to have a screen for watching movies visible from the drivers seat. Why navigation is legal, though, I dunno. ) Same reason that on most OEM systems(for example, the 2006 Dodge Ram), the controls are often locked when you are moving.

I suppose I could walk down to talk to the radio guys, since we make many of the OEM systems here, but, well, I'm lazy.

I had a 2500 CTD for a week at home to do temp testing on it. I found the nav screen annoying, too bright at night.

I suppose there's someway in the settings to dim it....

yea there are settings to dim it, the normal controls for the interios lights will dim the screen as well
