Default Contact pattern check round 5 and final

Seems ok to me but what do I know. It's my first time setting gears. Just need to double check.

.008 is the most you want ... anything more is considered excessive.

I guess I'll take out .002" on the pinion side and add it to the ring gear side. Then try again.

I'll knock out the inner pinion bearing race and remove .005" tomarrow. Then start over. Yeah me.

I am I correct in thinking that the pinion is still to close to the ring gear centerline? I chould remove another .005" from behind the inner race and try again. TIA

Can you take a better picture? It's hard for me to tell.

If it had to guess from the drive side I would say your pinion depth is good, and maybe adjust your backlast a little to center the pattern on the tooth.

Maybe try to add 3.2 MP to the Camera and retake the pictures:tonka:

It is really hard to tell from those pics though. It might help if you don't have your camera so close when you shoot the pic. You might be inside the focus range.

yea your too close to the ring gear center. put the pinion alittle farther away recheck backlash and you should be good.

the coast side you mean? coast side doesn't matter as much as the drive side. you want it in the center on the drive side and where ever it ends up on the coast side should be good. unless it's on the very edge of the gear, then you have something else going on.
