I would think most people would encourage him to step up and give him advise rather than belittle him any more than his situation at hand has. I would really like to see how many of you would actually say these things to farmboy in person. But hey, what do I know....
p.s. some of you have been in this same situation but for those of you havent, place yourself in his shoes and ask yourself how some of these ridiculous comments would make you feel?

I contradicted nothing. I chose not to ignore it.
And I would be more than happy to say anything I have posted face to face.

I will not pat some 17 year old kid on the back and congradulate him on impregnating his girlfriend.
I also don't give a damn if I hurt his feelings. Maybe he'll get pissed and prove me wrong. That would be the best thing that could happen, and if it does, I'll be glad to pat him on the back and say, well you fucked up your life but atleast you did the right thing for your child.

But for now, they should both meet with their parents and tell them the truth.
Man up and let the chips fall where they may.

Im not saying to congradulate him, but atleaste you could give him some of your advise on parenting (seeing as you hold yourself in such high esteem ). All I am saying is that the kid posted this thread to get advise which some of you gave but mostly all of you just degraded him, and there is nothing ethically or morally right about that.

"High esteem"?
No I don't think I do.
But what I do feel is very strongly about children.
I also came from a 17 year old mother. And I do know how hard it is to be raised with nothing.
Back then is was not the norm, as it seems to be today.
It was wrong then, and it's wrong now.
But today I hear parents celebrate their teenage kids having children.

The only advise I see asked for is his concern about telling his dad.

I can't tell you how many times I hear "just think how young you'll be when their grown up and out of the house, you'll still have time to party".
Geez, how can you argue with that logic?

How stupid my wife and I were to wait until a home was established.:miff:

It builds character deciding between diapers and rent.

Farm_boy. Please go here http://www.plannedparenthood.org//, find the closest center to you & take a trip with your girlfriend. They are trained to give you real advice on the 3 options available to you at this time.

Also, man up and tell the parents. Any of the options available to you are not without serious consequences and you will need a support group no matter what you and she decide.

Good luck!!

I was in this situation but we were both 21 and living together. It was decided that we would have the baby and start our family sooner then originaly planned. She got crazy I found her at her x's and then decided she was having an abortion. I no longer had a say. I still hate her to this day for it. None of our parents were as mad as I thought they would be, when we told them.

Does anyone else think that GayJ used his real name as a screen name because it's the only thing he actually knew how to spell?

Also GayJ...... SHUT THE fukc UP now please

aj, you can't give advice on subjects like pregnancy until your balls drop.

farmboy, while it's quite obvious that you fucked up, you now have the opportunity to be a man and face reality. if you two decide to have the kid and keep it, put that child first and love him or her more than anything else in life. life is not about you anymore.

And seriously, at what point do you two just agree to disagree?

I am a product of young parents (albeit in 1971), and all is fine, so it can be done. Odds are stacked against them, for sure, but the last thing he needs right now is negativity. Think that will help? Deed is done, he knows it was wrong, what he should have done, etc. But giving him a lot of shit won't help him now. He needs to hear the good things about being a parent. I have three kids of my own, and if you are smart about this, this could very well be the best thing that ever happens to you.

I think both of these comments are off base. If you are looking for some kind of emotional support, don't go to an off road web site. Fram-dad has already displayed his inability to take advice. How hard do you have to hit someone in the head to realize sex causes kids? Maybe a condom or birth control would be a good idea?

Stan hit the nail on the head. If you need some kind of happy smoke blown up your ass, go to church or some kind of support group. If you post your stupidity on the internet, someone just might tell you the truth. Duh..

Do they have a chance? Yes, but he knows that.
Is it going to be difficult? Most definitely..
Did he fawk up? Yes, he knows that, or he wouldn't be worried about telling his dad.
Does it hurt to hear it? It should.. Maybe it will keep someone else from making the same mistake. AJ, WEAR A CONDOM!!

farmboy and farmgirl messed up and it's gonna impact a lot more than the two of them.
pregnant in high school should not be socially acceptable. there'll likely be special classes aimed at her to keep her in school. great, and who pays for that?
reading, ritting & rithmatic are now replaced by read'n, ritting & reproduction.
wonder what farmgirl will wear to junior/senior prom?
their moms and dads are now conflicted. should they be ashamed of their child or beaming prospective grand parents? oh, and who's gonna pay for prenatal care and the birth? is it fair for the grandparent's insurance, if they have it, to be expected to pay? will the grandparent's retirement savings have to be used to keep the lucky couple afloat?
i think farmboy said earlier they weren't gonna get married right away to make sure they don't do it "for the wrong reason". so tell me, were he and farmgirl screwing "for the wrong reason"? if they do get married, sooner or later farmkid is gonna figure out date of marriage vs. date of birth and maybe question "did they get married for the right reason"?
if farmboy and farmgirl successfully make it, more power to 'em. i just hope they really think through the next steps before hand.
it would be nice if people thought about the "consequences" and the "responsibilities" that arise from their actions.
