Default skyweb

Does anybody use Skyweb? They are new to my area & I don't know anybody on it yet. I figure it sure can't be slower than the dial-up I have now.

Is that a satellite internet service?

The inherent problem with satellite internet services is latency. Basically, this means that the connection is fast, but there's a lag time between when you perform an action and when they actually receive the action, and send the reply. So, satellite's not good for online games, VoIP, videoconferencing, etc...

Also, you have the same problems you have with satellite tv... heavy cloud cover, rain, snow, eclipses, sun spots, etc... can cause you to drop your connection.

If you don't have any high speed alternatives (DSL, Cable Modem), satellite is fine. If you have something else available, use it.
