I maybe mistaken, but I'm pretty sure you were the first "incident" they've ever had on their 4x4 course. I'm not blaming you, shit happens, but it was EXTREMELY scary for Marv and Sue, as well as the other people there.

Marv has a perfect piece of land for this event, and a awesome piece of property to live on. I'm not surprised in the least bit that they are now choosen to go away from the liability. This day in age, you can't have large vehicles, 300 people, alcohol, all on one piece of land without the chance of something bad happening.
Sorry CC you of all folks know better then to think that. Many knew that the 07 PG was going to be the last one before it even started.

The fact that Marv required vehicle insurance absolved him of any potentail lawsuits. But combine the drinking and people being just plain stupid killed what had been a good event.

This is a fact you knew way back when.

If so many people knew this, why is Grandman announcing this now?

And a little FYI, if you would have sued him, he would have been screwed. It doesn't matter what insurance he had.. Civil Civil Civil.

My guess is that the sponsoring club for 08 wants to make an annoucment for the 08 Gig. And to make folks understand why it isnt being held at Marv`s is the logical first step.

Granted I am no lawyer.

But I screwed up and had an accident. Why should Marv be liable for my mistake ? Not in this household.

That is correct. Unfortunately, that is not the norm anymore. Trust me, Marv is EXTREMELY lucky that you and your dad were not hurt more, and EXTREMELY lucky that you think the way you do about lawsuits.

Not that many new just a select few, and nothing was concrete until after the 07 gig.

And a little FYI, potential lawsuit is not the reason. The gig outgrew the property plain and simple.

I thought the new camping area worked very well, but I understand the decision.

It worked for 07 but the gig has grown every year, and there just simply no more room here.

x2

In 2005 I told marv "Thanks for having a bunch of idiots over." after a great weekend there for "yogi's 2nd annual hog roast." Probably half as many people in 4x4's camping then.

I would now like to extend that same thanks to Sue, the Swampstompers, ....and your awesome neighbors.

X3

I watched it (the Grandman version) grow from the first (cold) August pre-run where KillerB had a (Kim's) jeep and was abducted by aliens to the mass of humanity last year.
