Non-believing Republicans...

How do you feel about the fact that all the major candidates shove religion to the forefront of their candidacy? just curious.

Do you really think God likes politics. If this pisses me off just think how made he is.

they 'shove' religion in the forefront? Do they? Or are those the headlines that you read?

I feel that we as people make them feel like they need to do that.

I'm Christian, but our government is by the people. And many "of the people" are not Christian. So I don't expect our leader to be a Christian.

And in a total hypocritical opinion... I do expect him/her to not be an Atheist though. In God we trust. Not in random big bang we trust.

Sorry hippies.

It does not bother me.

History shows us it does not matter.
Did the Vatican run JFK as people thought they would?

If that were the case we would fail more so than we do now in regards to foriegn policy. The fact of the matter is that our country was founded on priciples intertwined with religon, and todays voter is the one that makes religon a topic. I am sure if asked candidly OFF the record all candidates would love to run without ever having to talk about religon, abortion, or drug control. Unfortunately thats not the political landscape we are surrounded by.

It sucks, but they are appealing to the masses. But charts show that the times are changing, and more people are somehow surviving happily without religion. I'm sure religion hype from the candidates will be a thing of the past in the next 20-30 years.

Yep. More importantly, religious groups tend to motivated to do things as a group, and if you can get an endorsement, many of them will vote as a block, like a union, for who the leader tells them to vote for.

It is interested how the party has really shifted while under W to being the christian moral conservative party.
