Just got back from having braces put on youngest son's teeth. If your not married try to find somebody with straight teeth to marry that never had to have braces.

I had braces for 3 years, retainer for 1. And now the dentists say I need braces again. Eff that. All I really need is a retainer to straighten out a couple teeth and I'm good.

hahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahaha

I have 2 kids. Both will need them. We are already getting quotes so to speak..........

It's the way the baby teeth fall out and the adult teeth come in. Some get lucky and end up with straight teeth and some like myself have to endure braces during junior high.

I bet JCR could fab your kid up a set of braces for a fraction of that cost.

My son just had his braces removed, retainer on now.

My daughter went in last week to get impressions taken. Another 6k "invested".

Now does your kid NEED braces or is the dentist TELLING YOU he needs braces. I had a dentist tell me that I needed braces and I didn't get them. I kind figured because I can chew my food and I don't look like austin powers that I'm pretty much set.

This whole idea that we should have perfect teeth, perfect bodies nowadays kinda has me peeved. How are you supposed to find a real person now. shit its like those pictures of women with and without makeup. How can you tell what your kids are gonna look like if the mr or the mrs had their "donkey teeth" fixed by a dentist and their bodies made into some plastic surgeon's wet dream? This is the reason I only date now, I don't want to marry the hunchback of Notre dame by mistake.

for the most part, braces are for cosmetic improvement these days. My mother-in-law has worked for dentists her whole life and agrees with that statement. She says only about 10 percent of kids that get braces actually need them.
My wife had braces (needed them) and after having them off for almost 20 yrs, her teeth are moving back to their original positions. So, even if you have braces, it's not necessarily a permanent fix.

sounds like you have your priorities straight.

I mean, sure she may have a trust fund the size of manhattan, be as compassionate/loving as Mother Teresa, as Gymnastic as Jenna Jameson, but I guess if she looks like Princess Fionna at night time to move along... :tonka:

The Dentist told my wife and I my oldest needed them when he was 10, I told her to wait until he is like 16 or 17. So we waited and now, its a miracle, he teeth are perfectly straight. Wierd huh!! We went through the same BS with my youngest son (he was 9) with a different Dentist and same result his teeth are also straightening out nicely. Braces=scam just my opinion!

I will agree that braces are not needed by a lot of people, but my sister & I had them and our teeth look good. My three brothers didn't get them & they look English. Well, ok they do brush their teeth but they have some really crooked teeth.

x2

my top teeth have always been really straight, and my bottom teeth were never noticeably out of alignment. Now after all that junk is gone, I'm having issues with TMJ and my bottom teeth are shifting slightly. This is the crap that braces are supposed to avert.

my daughters teeth are jack because she should have had he tonsel and adnoids out as a child. She became a mouth breather and slept with her mouth open (keep your coments to your or die self she is 12) so her toung never sat in the top of her mouth and helped in makeing her pallet wider so all her teeth are compackted some teath are behind her other teeth. She first needed to ahve some kind off spreader retainer that opened her mouth top and bottom that had to be turned alot then braces to spread them apart more and thursday she gets more crap put in to bring the teeth int ehback forward with the rest of her teeth.. back in teh day she looked like a shark with rows of teeth...nothing would have been strait with out braces when she grew up

I do. I look through the picture albums with her family enough to find out if they had to hand a t-bone around her neck so the dog would play with her. Personally I'm ok with flaws, I know that everyone isn't perfect, just me.
