Default welding helmet

looking for a good auto darkening welding helmet, the camo one from miller would be ideal for me. just looking to trade cause i'm tight on cash. stuff i have: n-64, ps2, ps2 games, remote control hummer h2, rusty knock off high lift that needs a pin, also have a tippmann a-5 withs some accessories, and if the deal is right a tool box for the back a full size truck. can meet 1/2 way but delivery would be nice. thanks, i have some misc stuff to so just let me know. Would like one asap, because i'm in a welding class right now and the school has some old cheap shitty ones.

it's not a miller or hobart, but your local auto value store can get you an ATD auto darkening for like a $100, they are spectacular but they get the job done.

I know you said you don't have cash, but you can get cheapie auto darkening helmets on Ebay for about $50 shipped.

That auto-darkening stuff is for NooBs anyway.

i don't know about autodarkening being just for newbies, i know plenty of professionals that use them, especially for tigging. but hey to each his own.

IMO if you are just learning how to weld then you should use a regular hood to start. It takes a little practice to line yourself up and flip the hood down without moving the rod all over hell and back. If all you ever use is an autoshade, what happens when you are welding an important project that needs to look good and your hood dies. You will have arc stikes all over the place.
When I was in welding classes with my apprenticeship we weren't allow an autoshade for the first couple years. Of course, most of us were using them on the jobsite anyway.

if your looking for a nice helmet you can get a jackson HSL 1000 they are really light and
durable, i have one with the gold lens like i said, sometimes with an auto dark you can really have problems with stick, you can crank the sensitivity, and weld but it wont protect you from it, the auto dark will not pick it up, I also have the camo Miller Pro like you were talking about with a magnified lens for TiG welding, What do you plan on doing more? i ususally take the HSL out to do everything but tigging.
