Mounds meeting - Rowe Presentation

For those who missed it, this is what Rowe presented to us. Plenty of definition to work out but we're on the same page.

Maybe you should open a Civil Engineering business Jim!

Glad to see were on the same page though.

Why didn't they want to use part of the first scramble area on the east side, closest to the parking area? It seems there is more elevation change existing there than in the flat field....?

The Master Plan which was approved by the County AND by the Judge in the consent agreement had the Rock Crawl located in the back NE corner. To cahnge it would require another visit to the courts and more public hearings......can you say delay.
While it was agreed the the elevation on the east side would be more conducive to the course, Rowe felt they could duplicate it in the field with enough truck loads of fill and construction techniques.

That looks like a great plan, it is a lot larger than I thought. I was envisioning just one pile of rocks, but it looks like they are going to do it right with multiple courses for different level vehicles. It should really expand what people can do at the park. The way it is right now, if your not into mud bogging it isnt very challenging. I cant wait!

Rowe said at the meeting they thought we would see something before the end of 2008. So, construction this summer I assume. Phase I. Project is scheduled to be broken into three phases. We should get at least one or two courses of each level each year for the next three years which would be great.
After that........who knows, why not continue developing? As long as it's contained on the existing property we can develop any type of challenges we desire. That's how we got rock courses first, that's what GLFWDA asked for.

I completely agree, we really need a good 4x4 park in the L.P. of Michigan. Why not just improve an allready existent park like the mounds and turn it into somthing 4x4 users really want? makes sense to me.
