Default What is the farthest you have gone to buy a vehicle

I have been to New york to buy a truck a few years ago and I have a friend who flew to texas to buy a Jeep...Both were bought from listing over the internet, mine was a big mistake. I paid $1200 for this truck because it had a plow and i was starting a landscaping company, my buddy told me not to buy it but I did any ways. We started to trailer it home (no brakes) and the "weld on the trailer hitch started to crack", (i to this day just think my buddy didnt want to tow it home because is was raining hard)

So i left it there and called a tow company to take into town to get the brakes fixed. Well that cost me $700 and when I drove there to get it it wouldnt start. So they charged me another $250 to replaces the distributer. I then drive it to the gas station and as fast as Im filling it with gas its coming out of the tank. No one would fix it, so I had one good tank there were two so I figured i can get a few gallons in that one and nurse it home...Mind you I spent 2 nights in hotels while this was going on, the second repair and trying to fix the gas tank...So I finally get going and Im about to Cleveland and the hood fly's open while im crusing down the free way......well I make it to just out side of ceder point and it just dies as Im driving...I then call a tow truck and have it towed home that cost me another $500...

So for a $1200 truck i spend another $1450 not inc Gas there and back and three nights in a hotel and food.....

Talk about a bad experience

Any one have any bad luck buying out of state

I had a guy come from Idaho, via GREYHOUND... I had forgotten i even posted my tuck on line back them for sale. he called me out of the blue on a Tuesday in January, tells me he will show up following Thursday night with check and cash for the full 27k amount for me 02 v-10 ram. he gets off the greyhound late 20's in holland. its 8 at night and snowing. i ask if he wants a test drive or go to a better parking lot with light. he says nope just let me drive around the block... I worry a little he gives me 10k cash and drives off i freak for a few minutes, he shows back up says he will take it gives me the cashier check for the rest asks me how to change the radio station since it was a customer stereo and off he went no plates in the snow.. he called ten minutes later asking how to shift it into 4wd since he was all over the road.... said he had to be back home for duty (he was in the air force) on sunday at noon.. never found out if he made it.. but he was happy he finally found a v-10 2500 short box stick with 4.10's..... and he wondered why i was selling it? i think he figured it out about half way down I -80 in IL

It is ok to end a sentence once in a while. With one period.

I did the NY run via free plane ticket to pickup my wife's Orange IROC. Dead of winter...

Drove it home with some plates I brought with me :tonka:. I was surprise I was allowed to "Carry-on" the plates (after 911).

I didn't drive far to buy it but drove to Lansing to sell it to Randy Curran. (not that far)

The way there I was regretting selling it because the engine ran like a raped ape.

Had a guy drive from Texas to Marquette to buy one of my jeeps.

I sold my last truck to a guy from Cincinatti who drove up in a one way rental car.

I purchased my boat from Costa Mesa, California.

I purchased my last truck less then 3 miles from home.

the farthest I went was Lansing to get my boys first car. The water pump was leaking and the head was leaking also. I new this when I bought it and made him drive it back. It made it so I was happy. fixed it up he drove it for 2 years. Only paid 750.00 and 200.00 in parts and was still runing when he got rid of it.

I went to boston (900 miles) for a bronco I bought off ebay knowing I had to change ball joints before I brought it home. There was a big rain storm the first day (I pressed in the ball joints in my hotel room). I put a starter and idler on it also and when I hit the road to come home the tranny shuttered but it made it!

Bartlesville, OK from Three Rivers, Mi. Winter 1997. My mom was driving to McAllen, Tx to visit my grandmother so I hitched a ride. Truck was a 1998 Dodge 1500 (my first new vehicle purchase). Drove it back mainly off the highway to break it in proper. Took like 13 hours to get home.

Dealer was known to have the best deals and did not add on "extra" charges.
