oh, and the Mrs. just informed me that "Dacron" is a poly-cotton blend fabric. Do black folks just open the encyclopedia and point at something?

LOL!
actually I was told by a very good black friend of mine the names come from conjoining the mother and fathers names, this creates something strange, then in 13 years when those kids have kids the names just get more and more out there. true story

I love how the Asian names are the most normal "all american" names now. Even white folk are naming their kids weird now.

Wow, and to think, we named our 4 month old daughter Madison
If I would have known it where on the list, I wouldn't have even had to think about it.

I'll go to hell for this, but sometime take a look at the Honor Roll for Cass Tech in the Detroit paper. It looks worse than The Onion's list.

My mom worked for the Toledo school board. Her school (a Junior High) had a girl named (honest to God) "Ikeandtina Turner". Yes, Turner was her last name and her first (and only) legal, given name was "Ikeandtina".

A close second was a family of kids with some pretty pedestrian last name like Johnson or Smith. The kids were named Eldorado (boy), Cimarron (girl), Seville (girl), DeVille (girl), and Allante (boy).

Also see http://www.snopes.com/racial/language/names.asp
for an entertaining, but ultimately non-Snopes-like discussion of odd names.

I know a woman named "De Bor Ah", pronounced "day-bore-uh". She writes it with the phonetic pronounciation marks included. God help you if you call her "Deborah".
