Default 8274 XJ bumper

Build this past spring. Needed an XJ bumper for a warn 8274, no aftermarket support and I'm cheap so I decided to build one instead.

Started as 3x5x1/4in angle iron, cradle that came with 8274 and a chunk of I-beam.(I'm cheap remember)

Concept: I hate doing things twice!

Tacked up:

Off for finish weld:

Paint:

Installed:

Poser shots:

If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the proper sized steel and save myself a couple days of cutting and grinding. Still needs a stinger to guard winch and I cut the sides to match the fenders. Flame on!:tonka:

Very nice job in my opinion. Not a very easy winch to mount on an XJ. I need to finish mine off some time.

Yes the joys of the 8274. Did you clear your grill to tuck your winch in?

If you cut the grill to fit you can tuck it in an additional ~3". If you remove the condenser for the A/C you can gain another 1.5".

Updates, used poop pipe and HF bender at CheapthrillB2's place, then made support tubes and welded it all up. The goal was to put somthing between whatever I hit and my winch. I'm happy with it, it's not perfect but neither am I
