Default Everyone on this board is an atheist...

...when it comes to Zeus, Thor, Mithra, Vishnu etc. Some people just take it one step farther and recognize that the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim gods are also basically just another story made up by humans to try and explain things or control people...

There are some valid questions to be asked here.

Since there are so many "Gods", how can any one belief claim their God or Gods is/are the only one?

Also, based on mythology, mankind now holds more power than the Gods; have we become Gods ourselves?

When I look at the ten commandments and the kind of punishments listed for blasphemy / non believers, I can see where religion could have been initially intended to keep the peace of a large population.
I see the commandments as a set of rules that enforce ethics and common sense with a large penalty if transgressed.

I mean, come on, burning in hell for eternity can be excellent impetus to be civil.

believe what you want to believe, but do not make a blanket statement that involves "everyone" don't speak for me, and you're a douchebag.

1. It would be impossible for all gods to be all true at the same time. If two different gods claim to be the only truth, then one of them is, and one of them is not, or neither of them are. I would never claim that Jesus was the only way to SAY he was God, but I would argue that he was the ONLY one to PROVE it. And I emphasize the world ONLY.

2. We like to think we have! American society is shifting towards a very narcisistic worldview. A person sees himself as the center of the universe, which essentially places himself as a god figure. He writes his own morals, he rules his own world with no higher authority to follow, etc. Now of course this self deified man hold no acutual god position or power, but he thinks he does.

3. Ok, well give a bit of context to the Ten Commandment. Take a people group that was enslaved for a very long time, then they have a leader rise up to take them out of oppression and lead them out of Egypt, into freedom, on the way to a land promised to them. They never had to think for themselves, they were slaves. When taken out of that environment, they badly needed a moral code to follow. They sucked at following it so bad that they wandered in the wilderness for fourty years before they fiinally got it and were given the promised land by God. No one would argue that the Ten Commandments are bad, but that was God's simple version. Lots more were added, but Jesus surely gave the best summary of all, which captures ALL the law combined into one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.

If I was to claim that I was a god, there better be a good reason, and if I am unable to back up my claims with evidence, then please dismiss me quickly and permanantly. I apply this standard to all the categories listed in the OP, and most of them fall down without any effort. There are only a handful that are even worth putting time in to investigate.

Last I checked on the story, Jesus was the son of God and not God him/herself.

I don't believe that anyone in the world is truly an atheist.

I pray for all to see the light. I sometimes feel it overwhelms God but he's GOD and has time for us all. Probably just makes him sad

and sure I'll take you wheeling.

Going to Harlen late Jan!!

Not according to John 1:1

Jesus was God, and Jesus was with God. God, being three parts, has three roles, but is all one entity. God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit. In old times, it was God the Father. Then Jesus came, and before Jesus resurrected, he said he would send the Spirit (read Acts for the day of Pentecost).

Jesus IS God AND the Son at the SAME time.

So is Atheism a Religion or not? Somebody explain.

If it is a Religion, then would it be considered as "organized"? Just asking.
