Default miserable damn project

Nut boy and i pulled the trans and t case out of the grand today . man that thing is a bitch to get the bell housing bolts on . R side is near impossible . I pulled a lot of chrysler trans before but this one was ugly .

From the top theres no way . from the bottom use 3' of extensions with the unit dropped down is pretty much your only hope .

The bright side is all 4 bolts came out of the cross member with out breaking off . little time and wd-40 they loosened up .

This shall serve as a great reminder NOT to do that again :gman:

That is all , you may return to your normal lives . wait reading this crap IS your normal lives

Deep water is for boats ....unless your a dingy :) (hey I kinda like that one)

I think some of you guys need a heads up display that will flash the repair cost up on the windshield before you tackle the obsticle. Don't get me wrong its a sight to see you guys in those predicaments but it's not so fun during the aftermath when the people stop clapping and your wallet has nothing left in it but lint and a bubba's auto repair frequent customer card.

I have pulling my tranny down to 30-45 minutes. Being on tranny number 9 helps.

Yeah, that bolt is a bitch.....is it a torx head on yours too ?

I was able to get mine with a good ratchet no extension and the back dropped down as far as it would go.

Dont be afraid though, once you do it once everytime after that goes REALLY fast......

The last time I had my trans out during my torque converter conundrum It was out in 2.0 hrs and back in another 1.5 later with two guys.........almost fun at that point

The last time I dropped the tranny on my '96 it was out and on the ground in 45 minutes. I used about 4-5' of 1/2" extension on the impact to get to the top bell housing bolts. Once you've done it a couple times it isn't too bad. Of course that 45 minutes included dropping it on Bouncy. Oops. There was supposed to be one last bolt holding it in place. For some reason that bolt was either never installed when we put the tranny in, or it wasn't tightened and fell out. Luckily it just hit his shoulder and chest, then the ground. It may have broken if it had hit the floor first. LOL.. Just kidding Mike.. :)

You don't need to get your hands in there. Buy the 2 and 3' extensions for the impact. Put a 9/16" socket on it. Fish it in from the rear after you drop the crossmember and lower the tail of the tranny. Leave the lower bolts in place to avoid dropping the tranny on someone though. ;)

Whaa, Whaa. I can drop and replace my CJ7 tranny in about an hour. You guys need to quit driving those grocery getters.

On a side note Gman. I just put my T-case back together with a new chain tonight. Fingers crossed that this fixes that 4wd slippage I experienced in WB in January. The original chain didn't appear very loose though......:dunie:

HELL YEA.... the extensions is the only way to go getting those bolts back on the grand... i pulled mine and reinstalled it in my old grand last year and i wanted to kill people after that...

putting the engine back in my dodge right now actually isnt soooo bad..

lots of room to work and get to bolts ecspecially with the body lift, this has got to be the biggest benifit of the body lift, seriously!
