How many of you will have a tree and gifts and all the trimmings?

college student, no permanent home = no tree, my folks will though.

why will you do/not do this?

explained above

will you have time off work for christmas?

yup, done with student teaching and graduating on the 15th.

will you be going to church?

Nope.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yes I will have the tree up this weekend and all the lights and ornaments and big, fat fake Santas everywhere. Throw in a few snowmen and a Rudolph or two.
Why? I like to spend money on my family and worship the all mighty dollar. They should change the name to Moneymas or Shoppingmas. It is all about the marketing and sales and buying stuff we normally wouldn't buy. Followed by cooking and lots of eating and then more eating and then some drinking and then more eating.
Gifts? Hell Yes! It is all about the spending and marketing of the holiday. You mean there are people that actually still care about the religious portion of the holiday??
Church? Hell No! Why waste my time when I can be drinking extra egg nog and opening more gifts I truely need. Hope I get that winch I need (want)!
I take two-and-a-half weeks off to enjoy the snow (if we have any) and spend time with my kids who have the time off school. This is my long winter vacation. Time to relax, read a few books, and watch football.

1. Have the tree it's fake, too poor to have gifts this far in advance. We usually wait till about a week before hand.

2. It's Christmas! Jesus's Birthday (well, when we Celebrate it)! My Mom makes alittle birthday cake and everything. It's fun.

3. Yeah, I get off (well, My first two jobs) the Friday before and go back sometime in January. Although I will probably be working the third job if it snows alot (I'm a snow plow driver). Eitherway, I'll be relaxing.

4. I'm not entirely sure because we're going to my wife's Mom's house and she doesn't go to church. If we were at my parents house, yes. Both the 7 and 12 O'clock Services. My dad usually suckers me into running sound/Video. The mid night service is my favorite. We light candles and sing songs. It's neet. Yay Chistmas.

1. Absolutely! I have a fake tree, but a "pine scented" car air freshener makes it a little better!

2. Its when we've choosen to celebrate the birth of our savior. Not the actual date, but thats a story for another day.

3. I have the 25th-30th off. I'm headed up to the cabin (Atlanta, MI) with the family. Dad and I will do some snow wheeling in his YJ, mom and the sis will prob ski/snomobile, and my wife is going to Rhode Island for a wedding.

4. I will be at church on Christmas eve, we don't do a Christmas day service.

I will not, because my parents are nuts.

Yes, the 21st (PAYDAY!!) thru the 1st.

Nope, had enough of the stuff throughout my childhood.

We went out and killed a tree at the same tree farm we've gone to for the last 15+ years. It's a Caanan Fir and stands decorated now.

I get a few days off and took some more, so I'm off from 12/21 - 1/3. May take until 1/5.

We'll go to a midnight church service on Christmas Eve in Toledo with my mother, because it's our family tradition. Christmas Day is spent with the family, a big fire, and playing games.

I grew up in a 7 x 24 swing shift household where holidays were little different than any other day, and made the the choice to do it this way. To each their own.

Are you positive that He's dead? You better be sure because your eternal life depends on it.
I don't know when or how long I'll be home, but I hope to go to church on Sunday and celebrate the birthday of Christ with family and friends throughout the week.

I am pretty surprised by what I have read. After some of the posts involving religion I thought I would get a bunch of bs, It makes me happy to know that many of you do believe.
Now for the ones that don’t, why do you feel you should have time off for this(paid)? Why should we let the kids out of school? Why should the politicians get paid time off for x-mas? I am begin to think that if the school s want god out and the government wants god out, we should not pay them for the time off. I guess if you believe and all you will find a way to show it with or without the time off. It truly pisses me off to know I pay schools and government people, who want nothing to do with god,(and do a crappie job:this is not about the teachers) for the privilege of enjoying Christmas .

God bless

I don't care if you take away the holiday. I'll still use a vacation day and take time off from work to spend time with the family. I buy into the gift portion and spending time with my family. I don't need a holiday for this but I do follow along anyways. I have all the non-religious holiday decorations: Frosty, Rudolph, Santa (current image came from Coca-Cola, which is not a religious soft drink by the way).

Maybe I'll take the day off work for Kwanzaa instead this year! :tonka: ...and maybe Boxing Day as well.
