My student assistant. He wants to be a teacher when he grows up. I have him working with the 8th graders...they keep him busy. :tonka: They are building a pulling tractor also.

Sat it on the ground. Still have lots to do. Brakes, shocks, track bar....lots. Wanted to see how high it was going to sit. Tossed some tires in the back for weight.

Now the thread is caught up to where we are.

I really like the wheels. I too am going with a darker gray for the inner wheel on my H1's.

Thanks for comments guys.

Didn't get a whole lot done today. Friday is usually when we get most of the work done because it is open shop day and that's when kids bring all their cars in to do whatever...and anyone that wants to work on the Jeep can. Today was a test day so they were busy most of the time taking an electrical exam.

We did get some done, but much that isn't really picture worthy. New (used) AC clutch, bled the brakes, hooked up the front drive shaft, installed the exhaust pipe off the header, did some sanding. Mostly small stuff because there were a bunch of vehicles in the shop needing attention.

This got done....:tonka:

And the kids found out what happens when you sea foam an engine and forget to turn on the exhaust fan. They had the hose hooked up, just didn't turn the fan on. It was 100 times worse than this at the worst....had all the ventilation going before I took this. I was waiting for someone to pull the fire alarm.

Well today half the schools were closed so we had some down time and we set the Jeep down to do a little flex text to see how much room we had for shocks, make sure the brake lines were good, check fender clearance and what not.

Brake line is a banjo string but the spring is also off it's mount. Looks like limiting straps will be going in. Man the BDS lift flexes like crazy in the front.

Gonna need to do a little more cutting in the front.

I hope the rear springs break in a bit. I bet this changes when we get all the weight in it. There is NOTHING inside the Cherokee right now.

While it was there, took a pic of the locally made driveshaft. Actually it's a lengthened Ann Arbor Driveshafts driveshaft....when Evil-E was still working there and the place wasn't a worthless.

A look at the arms...

Did a little more cutting to the front. Have to test again to see if we went far enough.

looks great, those springs will break in once you get weight in there and use it a little bit

I'm kinda curious on this one too.

On another note, what did you use to undercoat your xj? Durabak? I'm looking at doing the same thing next summer and probably clean up what little surface rust I have under there. Are you doing Durabak under the carpet in the front for sound deading/ rust prevention too?

It's just the shoot on undercoat that any undercoating place does. Makes a heck of a mess of you if you are not covered well with one of those disposable white suits. Then smaller areas are just shot with the cans of rubberized stuff.

As for the inside....I'm not sure yet. I know that the rear cargo area will remain carpet-less and will have Durabak on it. The rest, not sure. Might spray it with something, might just shoot it all down with Zinc coat. That might depend on how much Durabak I have left. Gotta weld in the cage before we go to the floor coverings. All the front carpet will be going back in.

I was wondering who would point that out. It's a HP D30.
