They aren't all grooved yet. That is a new mod to the tires. Haven't had them off road grooved yet. I imagine they will bite harder on side hills and work better in the hard pack snow.

Few more pics....

Got the shock controller mounted.

The air pump is mounted under the back seat. Not wired in this pic.

Added an extra power port in the center console.

Made this little plate that mounts under the keyless remote thingy. The GPS and rear view camera will mount to it.

The red wire you see hanging there used to be for power to the visor mirror lights. I don't have visors anymore so that power will be used for the GPS and rear view camera.

In that last photo, your gps is mounted with the antenna directly under the cage, laying flat.

I have the same GPS, and when I mounted mine up to the cage where I wanted it, I had the same issue.

Do you think that will limit reception? That thing bounces all over my dash with the normal garmin dash weight mount.

I just ordered a amplified external antenna for use when it's in the Jeep. I like the boat mount because it locks solid in all directions. For 25 bucks or something on ebay i just picked up an external that I will leave in the Jeep.

The buttons by the shifter reminded me of the AW4 shifting mod (to lock up the converter). I'm sure you have seen it before?? Did mine a few years ago, I highly recommend it.

isn't there a trans gear mod also on the aw4? Those are planned along with an air bag shut off switch.

Yep, two switches. One for the converter and one to select gear changes. I'll try to find the link. NAXJA I think??

Why would you need the TCC to lock up at special times? I don't get that one.

The biggest thing I want is to make it stay in 1st and not shift to 2nd.

You'll have to try it and see for yourself. Locking up the converter is like having another gear.
Its almost like having a manual trans but instead of pushing the clutch in and switching gears you just flip a switch.
I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think you would like it.

Ok, so I knew that the location of where I mounted the Garmin GPS-Map 478 was going to cause reception issues but I really like where it's mounted and it's a clean install. Mounted with the slick marine mount, makes is super rigid and is positioned for great visibility.

So the fix was simple, an external, amplified antenna. E-Bay, $25 shipped.

The regular antenna pops off and exposes the BNC connector.

A test drive in the Ram with the new antenna shows some fantastic reception. you couldn't ask for better. That is 11 Sat locks. I did see 12 at one time but I didn't have my camera to take the pic, so I came home and shot this pic in my driveway, in front of the garage, under a huge ass pine tree.

Does the antenna part of that simply stick to the interior glass?

It's actually a magnetic mount. I'm going to route it back to the back hatch and then out the port where the rear defrost jumps from the body to the hatch, then up to the roof.

Looks like it may be ready for paint this weekend. I had a bunch of stuff to take care of so the Jeep had to take a back seat. Should start to make a little progress. I did get the winch put back together...however the wife didn't like the fact I had it in her kitchen sink and then the dishwasher.

Bad news is, I may have to move this thread over to GLFWDA.ORG because I need to move my pictures to another server and the server I have access to...well...it can't link to this site. I'm looking into different servers, we'll see what happens.

Well ok, finally got to do a little.

Jeep will be painted (Durabak) Saturday or Sunday.

Mocking up the front bumper and winch. Got all the holes drilled and the slot for the fairlead cut, although that's not shown in these pics. Now just some sanding and paint.

Got all the final welding done on the sliders, sanded them up and painted them. They are ready to install. They will go on Monday.
