Default Driveshaft Cost Break down

I brought 2 driveshafts to the ring and pinion shop in roseville. I had them build me a new front drive shavt and I remember it being around 200.

I just got the bill for the repair of the 2 rear shafts. 475!!! Can anyone give me a ball park parts break down of the parts. assuming eveything had to be replaced.

In one shaft the double cardon joint was blown to pieces.

It just seems odd to me that I can get a new one for 200 and rebuilt it's 237? Somethings not right.

For new
$75 for the slip yoke
$80 for the CV
$10 ea for ujoint's
$15 for dust boot for slip
$100 labor
Cost + or - $20 toatl depending on steel prices.

To fix your old shaft, if it was blowm up did they have to weld on a new pin yoke for the CV? If so there is $100 all by itself then add in $80 for the CV and then labor...

I guess knowing what all they did would be more helpful...

I agree. I'm going to look over the receipt. I just wanted a little background on what parts cost. I know on one a new pin yoke was required. It's possible the other was needed also. In your break down 240 isn't out of the question. Any idea why those parts are so expensive?

Depending on where you go. those prices are all over the map just depends on who sells what.

One more stupid question before 9 am. Where does one get these parts from? Basically ifI can get the parts for cheap and just get in good with someone to weld them on for me I could save a killing.

Try Rockford Driveline:

For example, your centering yoke in the double cardan joint, that costs you around $80 from NAPA, or $30 here:

Wow, that website is outstanding!! Thanks for the insight. A link like this needs to be posted in some sort of parts / reference page.

Haggar do you have to belong to that site... Also look up part no. 412 it is a pin weld yoke. That part that you showed goes for $45 to the norm $30 is what i sell them for. I get them for $25. It wouldn't take me to check out I think I have to log in.

Not sure.. everyone on NAXJA buys their stuff from them, though, didn't think you need to be a member or anything..

The tricky part is figuring out what you need.
