Default Classifieds. Filters? Clean up? Expiration of Listings?

How about an expiration, or maximum number of days before it self-closes?

Rules, or systematic filters that prevent multi-self-bumping the same day?

There are certain listings there, that obviously are simply not going to sell at their current asking price, to anyone here viewing the forum, for whatever reason (insert your own opinions on worth, shitty economy, or whether the item is a heap of shit).

Yet for whatever reason, it seems that said sellers will not face reality and either list the item elsewhere, or take other steps that a motivated seller really would take. (e.g. enhancement of the item, or reduction of the price)

obviously there are some where the seller has done so, and in the end it worked out. In others, they simply keep bumping the item every day and then get pissy when a question is asked, a trade is offered, or someone insinuates a comment about worth/offers...

I vote for expiration dates, I got PM'd 4 times last week over something i posted and had forgotten about over a year ago. After X amount of time ads should be deleted, then if they still want to sell something, simply re-list it.

i agree items shouldnt be bumped more than once a day, but im not so sure that threads should be deleted after a cetain time, sometimes things dont sell just because no-one is looking for them at the time they are posted. if something is no longer available, it should be edited to say *SOLD* in the title. it will then be removed. also, by posting that your problem is solved, part found, or no longer relevant, you wont get responses a year later.

So go back and put "SOLD/Not available anymore" in the title....then it'll get moved to the proper forum (AKA "Completed")

However, I also feel that a "filter" would be nice in the classified section.....something possibly like pirate has - a couple sub forums like one for wheels/tires, another for axles & gears/lockers, another for drivetrain, and another for body/other.....

The main reason I think this would help is because of the amount of times people bump stuff.....I've seen a few threads where the creator bumps the damn thing every 3 hours.....While this isn't an issue really if you've got time to go through the first 10 pages, I dunno, just seems like creating sub forums would help....

Bumping more then once a day is ridiculous.

Also I can think of 2 or 3 items that are not going to sell on here and the sellers don't seem to want to face reality.

Bumping 3-4 times a day everyday is retarded.

I would like a infraction for that

I knew i would get flamed for that response, i should have added *SOLD* but i just forgot about it. If you gave each post a 6 -12 months before expiration, if it was still available it could be relisted.

X100 on multiple self bumps per day.

I disagree with you, if you want to use the site to list your item then list it sold, if it is still sitting in the garage but you over priced it or no one needed it at the time it should not just disappear, it should stay listed so if someone is looking for it they can inquire about it.

I don't think anyone is flamming you......atleast I'm not....

But on the "expiration" thingy....I dunno, when something I have that hasn't sold (or I can't give away in the freebies section) and I think about it again a year later, I just bump the year old thread......plus, it's not that hard to put "sold" or something in the thread....just my opinion

RyeBread - From what I have seen, you seem to be one of the bigger price bashers in the Marketplace. If you have an issue with an item's price, ignore the thread. I wouldn't tolerate that kind of stuff in my threads.

I think threads should be left open, as sometimes items don't sell immediately, but someone 2-3 months down the road may find them through searches. An item not selling in a finite timeframe shouldn't dictate it being removed. If expirations are implemented, it should be 60 days (no shorter).

Sellers who bump multiple times per day are extremely annoying. If I could issue infractions for being annoying, I would. :tonka:

Craig
Getting CC to create Infractions for Marketplace-specific problems was impossible. I asked many times.

I just bumped a ton of shit, but I don't think any of it was same day.

We shouldn't have to restructure the site with expirations just because people are incapable of keeping track of their own shit. That's the member's problem, not the site owner's. If you know you have shit listed that is no longer available, do an Advanced Search for threads created by yourself in each of the Marketplace Forums and edit the title to include the word SOLD. Don't put quotes, asterisks, or other crap around it, as that can throw off the search filter. Or pay $12 and delete your own thread. :tonka:

I don't recall Ryebread picking on prices. I must have missed that, or he just doesn't pick on me. :tonka:
