Default Drowned 4Runner

I drowned my 4Runner at the Mounds on Tday. Anybody know how to pull codes. There was a place on a Toy site but last time I checked site was gone. It limped home as long as I kept it under 2000 RPM. Check engine lt alternated between flashing and steady on. Truck runs rough. Alternator and starter are toast. Not sure what else is wrong other than slimy mud everywhere.

Look here:

and here:

I put my 85 toy up to the middle of the headlights. As it was, it was water inside the ECU itself, which is in the passenger footwell kick panel. So if water is inside the cab, it gets wet and starts missfiring and running like crap.

85 22RE, I was in a hurry yesterday at work and forgot that part. ECU was probably completly submerged. I have a spare from an 87 if it will work. Right now I need to fix starter and alternator.

Yeah that was the one I picked up the motor in. I found another 85, already lifted locked in the rear W4.88's. It needs a motor. I am going to use the motor from an 87 P'up I had for the new one and swap seats and some other stuff to clean up my 85. The 85 I am looking at is pretty rusty so I think I am going to chop about a foot out of the back end and make it my new wheeler until I find time to get an old Bronco back on or off the road. I will steal the alternator and starter out of it for now to fix my 85.

If it's 22RE check the MAF sensor if you took water through the intake that will bind up the flapper inside the sensor and can make it run excessivly rich. That was my personal expierience after drowning my 4runner :)

I hope to get under the hood this weekend and start checking it out. I have to clean up garage so I can put the next victim inside. I am dragging home another 85 4Runner that needs an engine. I have a spare, I am going to steal some parts off of the new one to see if I can get the old one running right.

I pulled the trashed starter out of latest 85 and was able to use the contacts out of it to repair 2 other starters and got drowned 85 4Runner running but not quite right. Still flashing codes and not charging. I will pull alternator and see if it is under warranty or repairable.

Pulled codes it spit out everyone except the one that says it is ok. Swapped computer ran for a second and died. Something must of thawed out yesterday I started it and it died after a minute. Restarted it and after stumbling for a minute it purred like a 22RE should. Drove it for a while ran great. Now I have to pull alternator and hope Autozone warranties it. There goes my motavation to finish engine swap on the other 85 I just bought.

Trnas would not go into reverse when I tried to back out of my driveway to go to work the other day. Pulled fill plug Sun and nasty 90 weight milkshake started to come out. Front avle was not as bad but had some water in it. 7 qts of synthetic gear lube later it seems ok for knownot sure how bad inside of trans looks had not driven it much. Have to hit Toad up for another case of gear oil.
