Default Ball joints 04 2500 Ram 4x4

Well, I have been feeling play and all sorts of weird shit in the front end for the last couple weeks. So today i pulled it into the garage put it on stands and found that one of the drivers side ball joints is bad. Don't know which one so I figure may as well change both while I have it apart. Well just the upper is 160 bucks and that is cheap Autozone parts. My question is how long should I wait to replace these mothers? Now, or can it wait for a few weeks? Any help would be great.

Napa list upper for $134 and lower for $84.99 at Napa online. I bet you could get a better deal at the store if you have connections. I work at a Dodge dealer and I think that dodge has them as a kit for upper and lower. Not sure but will check on monday. Might as well replace both while you have it apart.

Well I went back out there and checked out the passenger side and they are also going bad too. So I may as well do al four at once.

I also checked Summitracing.com and they have the Moog uppers for 112$, so I might order them. But if you can find out what the dealer has that would be great. I will wait to hear, or I could call the dealer too. I live a block away from Dick huvare Dodge. Thanks!

Call DTS as well...they sell the spicer in a upper/lower set. Also check the trac bar as they go bad and sloppy.

Call Murray's $93.99 I believe for the uppers, TRW lifetime warranty. I think it takes a few days though. I Remeber this because a customer called for a price today, unless it was you, I work at the chesterfield one. O and if you come talk to me at the chesterfield Murray's I'll hook ya up with 10% off.

I did call Murray's yesterday and was quoted 93 for the uppers and 53 for the lowers. But I ordered the uppers already from Summit, for some reason I could not find the lowers on their web site so I will be coming in there probably Wednesday to order the lowers, let me know when you work and I will come then Thanks!

I also ordered a dual steering stabilizer kit by Skyjacker, and a 3" coil spring spacer. I figured while I have it all apart may as well do the leveling kit. I should be able to run 35's on a 10" wide wheel after the leveling kit. I should probably put new shocks on too.

That was a waste of money. I have 40's on my Ram with no stabilizer and drive on the highway without any problems. All the stabilzer does is slow the rate of movement of the steering parts.

If you want to do soemthing good for your truck's front end, buy one of these steering box stabilizers before your gearbox starts to get worn:

So far I've been blessed with no issues from my ball joints, TRE's, or wheel bearings. I'm at 101,000. I'm finally ordering replacement shocks now though. The front brake pads are original too. :tonka:

When the joints go, I want to get greasable parts to replace the stockers. I hate not having greasable parts from the factory.

Would you be interested in just the tires? Or wheels too?

Yes, I do. I recommend that brace to all Ram owners. Took less than 30 minutes to install, its serviceable, greaseable, and was about $250 shipped to my door. The steering boxes flex on the frames a lot more than you'd think.

No, it is a 2004 so it falls under the 3yr 36000. And the drive train warranty is 70000, but does not cover ball joints anyways.
