Default 1991 F-250 Shifting Funny!!!!!!.

My cousin has nice 1991 F-250 Regular Cab Long Bed 4x4. He just bought Bushwacker Cut out flares and 36-13.50-16.5 Super Swapmer Irok Tires for it. All Brand New. But he was driving it today to work and got on it hard and it would'nt shift into second gear. Its just sticking in the gears. It shifts fine and works fine if he drives it easy though. The truck has a Big 460 BB Motor in. My guess is a C6 transmission but I havw no clue. Anyone got any ideas????? Think a simple transmission flush could be fix it?
Thanks, A.J. Hall!.

E04D Tranny, I'm having the same problem right now,................there is an electronic controller on the drivers side of the transmission, I believe this is where my problem is. You might want to start checking there.

O ok. That 460 is a hell of a motor. Your sure it would have a E04D in it. It came factory with the Big Block 460.

If it is a 1990, that is probably what is in it............Ford put the E04d behind the 302 all the way up to the diesel, ........the case is different between big block and small block.
They may have used the SS planetary gears behind the 460 instead of the alluminum.

If it has first, second, drive then it is a C-6. If it has an OD then it is an E4OD.

Might be a kick down cable? but i never hade any trouble with my C-6

I was wrong on the issue with mine, just got inside from the garage..........the problems I have been having have all been caused by the Pivot bolt on the T-Case linkage.............The bolt had loosened up and, was causing slop in the linkage.
Check this part.

That's fairly common. I've seen it happen on quite a few trucks.

There is usually only one pivot bolt on the transfer case linkgage. It's large and has a metallic looking color to it.
